Was at the children's museum and the boys wanted a burger and mom and dad wanted a drink. Found 501 with a Google search. From the outside you would think it's a local bar. When you walk in it's a very cool place. Plenty of seating and a bar. Large selection of alcohol and food. Service was great but the server only had one other table at the time. We shared the mushroom soup and it was amazing. I ordered the 50/50 burger and was really excited about it half bacon half beef yum. The burger was delicious all the ingredients complicated each other perfectly. The only complaint I have is that it was kinda small for the price I would have love to take some home. I eat a fair amount but normally don't finish a plate. My wife had the California chicken wrap and she said it was good nothing special. They were served with fresh cut fries that were great. They had a special on Coors light I had 2 large beers for $5 great deal. I bet the night atmosphere or a sport game would be fun here, might have to give it try sometime.
I just want to say, I went to this place probably about 7 years ago now. I got the hang over burger. It is the best burger I have ever had in my entire life. When people talk about the best food they’ve eaten in their life, I talk about this gem. I think about it often and I know nothing will be able to replicate it. I hope to go back soon as I don’t live close anymore. YUM 100/100 RECOMMEND
Great waitress! Too dark atmosphere, kind of creepy. But the cheddar soup was amazing, the burgers were small (too much bread) but the patty was exceptionally cooked! The fries were over cooked nothing special about them! Nothing special about the bacon appetizer. The Mac and Cheese is average. They claim to have the best rueben sandwich in Rockford. Looking forward to try it!
While on vacation we passed thru & stayed overnight in Rockford, IL. Desiring a popular local spot to eat, we came across Vintage @ 501. It is located in the historic downtown area directly across from the stylish, art deco City Hall. I'm not sure what vintage means to you, but if it's a slightly worn & dark sports bar w large ad signs of a bygone era, or paper menus that are now wrinkled w repeated use, or at my table the little extra effort needed to pry my phone from the sticky surface, this place might tick off the boxes. But Vintage @ 501 is known for their food and the menu has a lot to choose from. We were excited to find the Beef Brisket Plate, and then to split it. We made an outstanding choice! The large helping of mashed potatoes, butter glazed beans & brisket shared between the two of us made for a filling and pleasing meal for both. I thought the slow roasted brisket was especially tender and tasty especially with the Cabernet reduction gravy covering it. My wife enjoyed her meal, but noticed the absence of carrots as described on the menu and thought the green beans could be helped by adding salt. By the end of our meal, "vintage" had taken on a new meaning: delicious home-cooked, comfort food w the one you love ❤️ the most!
We were downtown On A Tuesday meeting a business associate for dinner, this place had great staff and good food but the decor could use an upgrade, it was slow obviously Tuesday night but the bartender / waitress did a good job. Pictured are the dishes we had and descriptions underneath each pic posted, I will definitely go back for the food.
Great food and delicious cocktails served by an attentive and very knowledgeable bartender and staff. The martinis are simply yummy and my bourbon old fashion was spot on. Went back again when we were in the area and had a Purple People Eater martini and a Lemon Drop one as well. They were both spectacular. Love this place.
Love the atmosphere here. Laid back and comfy. I had the bacon cheeseburger and my husband had the Godfather burger. Both cooked to our specifications and bigger than the bun. Friendliest service we've had in a long time. We'll be back!
Even though the place was pretty busy, the wait staff were attentive and efficient but like others have mentioned the food was mediocre. The soup came out barely warm and was sent back for reheat. The drinks were good. After waiting for at least 30 min for our food the server came back to say they were out of the tuna and that I had to pick another menu item. My husband’s meal was ready to serve though. ????
Food flavor was just ok. Fries were a bit soggy but acceptable. The chicken was rubbery and somewhat tough, with little taste. Sorry to say but we’ll probably not go back.
