Best KPortal Reviews

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Woodstock. We always have great service and a great meal here.
Everything is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Mozzarella tasting to start. Then, see where your palate guides you for the meal. Truly a gem of a restaurant in our area.
TLDR; the pasta dishes are fantastic, but literally everything else was incredibly disappointing.????‍????
The dining experience here felt like a fever dream, or like being on an episode of punk’d.
Recap:
- Reservations at 7, seated at 6:50ish. Service was so slow we did not receive, cocktails until 30 minutes after being seated, and food did not arrive until 8:15.
- When we did receive cocktails, they were wrong and when we notified the waitress she argued with us (*see photos and captions*)
- No complimentary bread, so we ordered focaccia; it was so dry and did not resemble any focaccia I’ve ever seen in my life.
- No oil, vinegar, or any additional seasoning/condiments on the table. I asked for oil for my dry bread, I was given a tiny dish of the blandest oil.
- Then when we got our bill, we noticed we had been charged for our dessert, which they had said was complimentary due to it being my birthday
The environment is so strange also. Somehow it is entirely too spacious and too cramped at the same time?? The echoey acoustics and bland interior feels like a high school cafeteria. The menu, poorly printed on computer paper, added to the cafeteria vibe.
Despite all of our other service being incredibly slow, the table bussing would occur the second you finished a bite or set down an empty glass. It was so excessive to the point where it was constantly interrupting conversation and you feel like you are being watched.
The seating also made no sense. The restaurant was maybe 15% filled with patrons — so plenty of open seating — however they seated a party at a table so close to us that those patrons and ourselves had major issues getting in/out of our seats. Our friend and the other patron were both sitting with their chests pressed against the table because scooting out any further would cause the chairs to bump into each other.
Again, the pasta itself is 10/10, but everything else was so incredibly strange that we started to find it comical.
I'll first start by saying that the owner was super friendly, informative, and helpful. Also, the pizza was fantastic, with fresh ingredients and a great balance of flavors. However, the rest of the staff was inexplicably unfriendly and my cacio e pepe was swimming in olive oil (see photo). I thought that the bread pudding was very tasty but the affogato had way too much amaretto. It was, overall, an inconsistent and unappealing experience.
Just wow. What a fabulous experience. Found this place online when looking for celiac friendly restaurants. It was all true! The chef/owner came to our table several times and spoke with us. He did not make me feel abnormal with my eating needs. It’s so hard to go out to dinner! From the top to the bottom, this place is stellar. I didn’t write the review until I woke up the next morning because I wanted to truly relate not being sick—and I am not!!!! We ate a cheese appetizer that was ahhhhmazing, I ordered a pasta that had homemade sausage (gluten free mind you) with potato based pasta with rice flour/corn starch (made by the chef himself) and we topped it off with an authentic affogato—which you have to experience if you like coffee! This is one of the best meals I have ever eaten out AND it was completely safe. I’m in awe. Way to go, Vingenzo’s! We will be back! More pics next time! Presentation was beautiful and certainly a bonus!
More photos added after I went back a second time the next month! Homemade gnocchi is out of this world! The freshly made gelato is outstanding, too. You have to try this place. It’s my #1 favorite place to go now!!!!
We went there cause the good reviews we had read, oh my, oh my, the reviews will never explain how awesome this place is. I am a Celiac and going out gets depressing as not many offer true gluten free options. I was hesitant until the waitress told me I can order basically anything on the menu and they will make it Gluten Free. I almost cried and could not stop smiling from the time I ordered and hours later I’m writing this and still smiling! The treatment towards us was so awesome! We walked in with no reservation and they got us a seat within seconds.
We visited for a birthday celebration and left after a great time! Attentive, knowledgeable servers. The chef makes from scratch what has to be the best-looking Bloody Mary I have ever seen! The brunch menu was wonderful and the prices were great. I had the prosciutto and eggs pizza and everyone was envious! Topped off with some of the owner-chef's peaches and cream gelato. I can hardly wait to visit again.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Chef Bologna is amazing! I don't post reviews that often -- only for exceptional food...and this delivered. Two in our party are gluten free and had the BEST pizza they have ever had...ever. My husband had the pork shank that was outstanding! OMG! Fell off the bone and had amazing flavors. I had the Fettuccine Pomodoro & Ricotta which was equally fantastic. Will definitely come back again, and again, and again!!
As a couple who are of color, when we entered the restaurant, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were waiting for a table and wanted to wait by the bar but they refused to put chairs by the bar to sit down and drink. So we went across the street to wait, which was a much warmer and friendlier.
There was no bread being served while waiting for food. I had to ask for bread. Then the waitress made a big deal about trying to get me to skip bread since I’m ordering pizza anyways and apparently it takes the same amount of time to prepare house bread.
We would have ordered more food (wanted to try the veal ) if they made us feel more welcome. We ended up going to another restaurant as soon as we finished our pizza and sausage.
The pizza barely had any cheese on it. I am from NYC so I’m used to better quality Italian food. This is nowhere near anything what I’m used to at the amazing NYC Italian restaurants of NYC. .. both food and atmosphere wise
However, when we go to the amphitheater for live music in the summer, Vingenzos sells drinks outside and I always love that service.
