My pregnant was craving fish and chips on this Friday Night. Decided to try Victory inn and they did not disappoint. There fries are seasoned which I really like, the tartar sauce is homemade which you never see and the Mac and cheese also I homemade and is fantastic. Even tried the pretzel bites and they are exactly what I was hoping for, nothing fancy. Soft, salted pretzels and nacho cheese. The only way it should be. The fish was great also ( fish and chips is pretty similar anywhere I think) but everything else made the meal really stand out. And the staff was great, very sweet to my wife when she ordered and congratulated me when I got there. Great experience, would recommend to anyone. Nice fun atmosphere on the inside to, next time we'll dine in
I've lived in the area for 9 years and have wanted to try Victory Inn but today was the first time I actually got around to it. My order was st Louis cut ribs, brisket, beans, mac & cheese, slaw, and cornbread. The delivery from grubhub was fast (1/2 hour from order time). I noticed right away I was short a piece of cornbread. The ribs were overdone, hard near the ends, falling apart in the middle, stringy and heavily smoked. Instead of thin blue smoke, I feel they use heavy white smoke, filled with creosote. I'm a connoisseur of smoked meats and smoke my own. These just didn't cut it for me. The brisket was dry as a bone. The slaw was made at least 3 days before and was very limp and soggy. The beans were good with chunks of pulled pork mixed in. The mac and cheese was also very good with a homemade creaminess and topped with a layer of melted cheddar. Cornbread was also good (albeit missing one of the pieces I ordered). I'm glad I finally tried Victory Inn because I satisfied my curiosity but, I won't return unless it's just to get their beans or mac & cheese.
I got the pulled pork sandwich, brisket, chili and a snickerdoodle. The pulled pork was good, it wasnt dry and was cooked really well. It didn't seem like they used much seasoning but the smoke flavor was heavy. They forgot my coleslaw tho, so it didn't get to put that on my sandwich how I like it. The sweet bbq sauce was good too. The brisket had a good bark on it, smoke flavor was stood out, but again I didn't taste much seasoning. It was juicy like I like it but it wasn't dry either, very tender. I think somebody put their whole entire foot in that chili. Best chili I've had in quite some time! Very flavorful, not too spicy, not too many beans, it was just right. The cookie was good too. Some homemade sweet tea would've taken this meal all the way there. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're in Warren.
I'm quite shocked at how bad this food was. Had I made prepared this type of meal, I would be embarrassed to serve it. The picture doesn't lie. There's literally no moisture in the meat. Brisket is dry and overcooked. Pork belly is dry and overcooked. Hard to chew. The collard greens, well obviously no soul there. The Mac n cheese and corn bread was the only thing pleasurable and that's being kind. $50 down the drain.
I've been here many times over the past 15 years, and it was aways a decent dive bar, but wow, have they changed. I ordered a brisket sandwich, and my wife ordered the wings, and we grabbed a seat. Next, the waitress asked for drinks. I ordered a Moscal Muke, and she ordered a classic Margherita. The mule was decent, but when the waitress delivered the Margherita, she said it was premix. $8 for a nasty premix drink. Seriously disappointing. Food came out fairly fast, but as you can see, the wings were very overdone and rubbery. Practically inedible. The blue cheese looked as if it was over a week old and tasted much of the same. The brisket was good and falling apart, at least, but one meal was a complete flop. As for the decor of the place. They still have Christmas decorations at the end of April up. I love a good dive bar but you can't update the place, charge more money and not deliver on the food.
Tried the ribs for a 2nd time, and never again. Last time I ordered St. Louis Ribs and they were overcooked and were mostly bone. When I complained they brought baby backs and they were handpicked and delicious. Tonight I went with the Baby Backs and they were not good. Almost no meat, and 6 tiny bones which included a dried out end piece. The photo is half my order or ribs, For 23.00? Both times ordered around 8pm. Maybe they are better during the day, but I will not chance ordering them again. So disappointing. The only thing I will ever order again would be the sliders. Our server was fabulous though as always.
The Victory inn is truly a staple, a fixture, an iconic bar. I rarely write reviews but my experience today was so great today I had to say something. The fish tacos on Friday are absolutely delicious. Also I've been coming to the Vic for years, and I've never gotten to the bottom of my glass before the server offering to bring me another beverage. The experience at the Vic is everything I want out of a blue collar bar.
Affordable prices and good food! You order at the counter, they give you a number, then the food is delivered to your seat. A waitress will handle the bill when you are done eating. There is a decent sized parking lot attached to the building. Good for a quick lunch!
