Apparently 19th century pub in the centre of the village. Bar area with pool table and dartboard, snug with TV and log burner, plus a small restaurant. Some interesting and historic photographs of local mining activities adorn the walls.
Ale is three offerings from St. Austell Brewery, including Tribute, plus two ciders and various lagers. Food menu is not extensive but perfectly acceptable, and it is worth looking out for specials advertised on blackboards. Local clientele generally very friendly.
Going again next week to try carvery had these meals they were delicious
Excellent take-away Fish and Chips served by friendly staff, well-organised to maintain social distancing - thanks.
Very disappointed. Took over an hour for food with two hungry children. The pub was very quiet with only one other family there. I ordered a pie which was the sadest looking pie iv ever seen. Dry and shrivelled up in the pot with a small pot of fries and some tinned carrots. Wife ordered chicken burger which was also very sad looking and dry (fried chicken, one slice of tomato and no sauce). Many items on the small menu were not available and after spending £73 on 4 meals and 2 kids meals we came away still hungry. Shame as I known the Sunday carverys are good.
The food & service are 1st class. MASSIVE portions, great value and excellent dessert choice. I can't recommend the carvery enough, and the staff are very friendly and attentive at the right times. Live locally so will be visiting a lot more from now on.
Great food and enormous helpings. I had the vegetarian option and it was delicious. I would have given 5 stars except for overcooked veg although the roast potatoes were amazing. The service was great too.
Fabulous Sunday Carvery yesterday, amazing amount of vegetables perfectly cooked, plus good portion of meat topped by the most friendly and helpful staff.Thank you and congratulations on a wonderful experience.
Visited whilst the weather was grim. The pub saved us from a wet evening staying at a local establishment, the Victoria gave us a warm welcome with a pool table, and a few pints. Offers takeaway food and seems to be a hit. Recently refurbished and would visit again.
