Via Transportation took over Hampton Road's Paratransit Company HandiRide, and they are not doing a good job.
April, 5th, 2020, I was left at the grocery store. The driver refused to let me on the vehicle because I had personal shopping carts. He told me there was a "2 bag limit". I have been using this service for years and never has this issue. The drivers normally use the wheel chair lift to get the carts on to the vehicle. The driver then instructed me to empty the carts and carry the bags onto the vehicle. After I refused, and asked if he could use the lift, he drove off. An agent sent another vehicle, but I never heard anything back regarding the incident.
April,19th, 2020, I was in front of the grocery store waiting for my already late ride when I saw the vehicle barely enter the parking lot. It sat there for a few minutes and pulled off. I'm guessing the diver saw my carts and decided to leave. An agent told me that my ride was already cancelled and never offered to send out another one. I had to call a cab.
Via transportation has done nothing about either incident, except fill out forms that get no response. No one higher up is available to talk to. The agents give the run around with conflicting information. Via Transportation is not suited to service people with disabilities. They are fine with drivers being late and leaving passengers. I am extremely disappointed with this company.

Shame on me for giving them more than one chance to do wrong but.. they’ve sent multiple drivers who were not wearing a face mask or with no window open for air circulating or they charge you twice or the car is 25 minutes away or they cancel after you waited 25 minutes and send another car and charge you again , never a smooth experience with via, the driver today refused again to wear a mask, open window and was very disrespectful. I reported it via but all they did. I reported it via but all they did was say that was being escalated each time but yet the situation continues don’t ride with Via!! Your safety your time nor your health or concern to them
I applied to drive for them and the first thing they ask is for your driver's license information including number and state of issuance. They when you ariarrfor your scheduled interview they act surprised it's not a local licnsel, yes I was100 percent transparent with you and disclosed this information prior to wasting my time in showing up. Then talk to you as if you are stupid, "yes different companies have different policies." As if I couldn't figure that out myself. Not to mention they sit will not allow you to show up 10 minutes early for a scheduled appointment- we don't all like being late and when you are on time you are late. But no they sit their watch you and leave you sitting in the hallway. Everyone driving are not uneducated people and have various reasons why they need or want to earn additional money. Then the biggest joke is their slogan"we care about of people." Keep on Uber and Lyft as duplication is not always a form of flattery.
It's a nice change from the normal rideshare experience, if you know what I mean. Prices are reasonable and thus far it has been quite dependable. It's great to know I'm not in bondage with the other two companies. Time will tell for sure.
Your delivery driver. Has no concern, for the inviroment nor our community. He spilt, deasal gas, allover the street, at the address, 1420 McCullagh Street in Baltimore, MD. He was asked, to clean it up, but he refused to do so. This is a community of home ownership. Who cares about thier community.
Undermine their drivers way less than other ride-share companies. Customer service people are free from knowledge what the platform does.
