Stopped by here for lunch, first time at a Van's. Got a chopped brisket sandwich with the BBQ beans. I gotta say, the BBQ beans were mid, but the flavor and texture of the sandwich were on point. Hit the spot, especially with the sweet and smokey sauce. However, the sandwich was probably the greasiest sandwich I'd ever had, it was dripping with melted fat. Didn't bother me too much but fair warning.
Just passing through the area, and stumbled across this Gem of a Bar-B-Q joint.
The Peach Habanero BBQ sauce was off the charts.. just hint of spice with Dab of peach flavor.. Some Good Stuff Right there
We had burnt ends and sliced brisket with mac-n-cheese and baked beans.
Would return just for the sauce????????
I really enjoyed my meal. I think these were the best ribs I've ever tasted. The rub combines with the smoke to make something really amazing. Don't use much barbecue sauce or you will cover up all that greatness! (I say that even though they have great sauces.) Staff was friendly too. Coleslaw was great; beans a bit above average for a Southern BBQ joint but nothing spectacular. Strongly recommend.
Would I return? Yes.
I was promptly greeted by all the ladies in the kitchen, not just the cashier - nice touch!
This was my first visit. I had a few questions, and my questions were answered to my satisfaction ????
I ordered the Pig Sandwich combo (pulled pork) with (homemade 'n' pleasantly)greasy curly fries.
My meal was PROMPTLY brought out to the table. The sandwich was of an adequate portion. The pork was nice and moist & tender with good smokey hints & flavor (a bit light, though, for my personal preference - "your mileage may vary.") The meat itself was luke warm at best - * my reason for docking a ☆ on the review.
The fries were fantastic! They were pleasantly soft on the inside with a nice crisp on the exterior.
The BBQ sauce variety was a nice restaurant option, admittedly!
The establishment was clean all around: floors, tables, restroom.
Any time I'm in Shawnee I eat at Van's at least once. I've never had a bad meal!
Spent over $100 for 2 lbs of meat and 3 sides for pick up. Sliced brisket was dry, ribs were overcooked and dry. Asked for sauce, didn't get any. Potato salad was slimy with way too much mayo. Beans were too tomato based, just not very good. Didn't try the Cole slaw, but didn't look very appetizing. Pretty disappointed overall. Shawnee, Ok needs a good BBQ restaurant, because Van's ain't it! Won't return again!!!
Everything was great.only thing on my to go order was they forgot my extra BBQ sauce after I asked for it.always check your bag before u leave.other than that,brisket fries were great!
I work here at Van's and love seeing all of our regular customers and friends we have yet to meet! Come see us for good food and service with a smile.
Today's quest was to "Visit Shawnee" and find all of the available "Painted Horses" on the list of Artistic Tourist Attractions located in the city of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
