For a smaller space on campus, it does very well at mimicking a nice English pub. Good prices on alcohol, no food served here however there is a university restaurant just outside. There is a pool table in the centre of the pub. A wide range of local beers and gins are available here. The beers are available on 1/3 of a pint flights, allowing customers to try a variety of beer without spending (or drinking!) too much first.
Delightful. My dog likes to bark at the window at the students, and the students say "Why is he barking!" And I say "why are you talking?!"
That shut them up!
I usually come here for the Vanbrugh Jazz nights and I'm particularly pleased with the settings. There's a pool table as well for those looking to show off their skills at hitting a ball with a very long stick.
Drinks are cheaper than going out into the city centre which is a big plus! Just wished the bartenders would not pass the drinks by holding them at the top of the pint glass (where your mouth meets the glass) and instead would give the drinks by holding the bottom of the glass instead.
Great for studying and the drinks are cheap. Only downside is the chessboard is missing 10 or so pieces
Can't believe they tried to rebrand as Vanbrugh Arms, but I will always love V Bar, great drinks, great service and always full of people having a lot of fun!
Moderately good food and friendly staff. Good size portions.
Not that cheap but if you can get a seat it's a good atmosphere for students, often live music
No food but the Guinness shandy is a must have
