Stir-fried eggplant was great. The chicken soup pot was good too. Wish it had more spam but you could order add on. Mango ice was amazing. Great food quality for its price!
Good food takes time to prepare - thats what sign at the next door French place says. This applies here too.
Kitchen has plenty of parking in plaza. It offers inside seating and clean modern interior.
Originally from LA, we found this place has the best Japanese Miso soup! The presentation was unique and you can taste every flavor. My favorite was fish ball in the soup - simply burst of flavor!
Eggplant with garlic sauce was prepared were well - just enough oil but full of flavor as well.
We want to come back and try more. Hope to see improved service too.
Tried hotpot for my first time and it is so comforting. Huge portion size too! They also have a wide selection of boba teas and traditional Chinese dishes. Our serve was super attentive and boxed our leftovers for us ???????? Highly recommend!
The food wasn't bad. I just wished they had a kids selection to choose from. You can't just order sides alone which I thought was a little frustrating. My daughter really wanted the noodles and she couldn't. The sweet and sour pork does NOT taste like it at all. It was more of a teriyaki sauce. I won't get that ever again.
On a cold winter day, hotpot is the way to go! Chicken style hotpot and Japanese miso style hotpot are both delicious! In particular, you should definitely order the seafood fried noodles at least once! I strongly recommend it! At the end, they served us sweets, and we were filled with gratitude for the heartwarming service! Would definitely go again! (╹◡╹)♡
Phenomenal food, seriously. We ordered the Shu Mai, Shrimp Dumplings, Tum Yum soup, Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet, and Black Pepper Beef. All of it was amazing, I would order all of it again. All the food had great flavor but was still light (i.e., not heavy like after eating fried/cheap food).
The food was very tasty I got mango boba with lychee, spicy beef hot pot, soup dumplings, and salt and pepper fish. Food came out pretty fast but I went during lunch and it wasn’t that busy. The service was great our server was amazing and attentive. Definitely recommend, they have such a large variety of food which was nice.
Urban Kitchen by ShareSweet is Chinese-owned Asian fusion restaurant that newly opened in the Chesterfield Valley area in the last year. It’s tucked away in a strip off the road. ShareSweet also owns a bubble tea/desserts shop I like, located along Olive Blvd.
The interior has a calm, simplistic, traditional feel. Unlike many Asian restaurants, the decorations were not too loud or tacky. The forest green booths and wood furniture gave an organic, earthy atmosphere to the restaurant. For take-out, there is a kiosk from which you can order. The Spotify playlist had a combination of K-Pop, anime openings, and calm American pop. I enjoyed it a lot, and it was quiet enough that we could enjoy our conversation.
My group ordered two hot pot to share: the Spices Lamb and the Spicy Beef. Both came with a serving of rice. The Spices Lamb was served in a subtle broth spiced with star anise. Lamb, silken tofu, tofu skin, glass noodles, spam, black fungus, enoki, and cabbage were the stars of this hot pot. I personally like lighter foods, so this one was perfect for me. If you don’t like sea food, Spices Lamb is the only hot pot without any fish ingredients. The Spicy Beef features beef, glass noodles, fish cakes, imitation crab, tofu skin, cabbage, fish balls, and spam. It was pretty hot for everyone but me (the resident Asian), but it was everyone else’s favorite. We also ordered some egg rolls and crab rangoon, which were delicious.
My friends ordered a taro milk tea with boba and a créme brulee milk tea with boba. I tried my friend’s taro milk tea, and the boba was nice and fresh. The drink itself wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet like taro milk tea often is.
For a group of five, this was plenty of food. I took home a packed container of leftovers. I would estimate that a single hotpot could feed 2-3 people.
The service was attentive and friendly. Note that the staff is primarily Chinese-speaking, so if you have any specific allergies, they might not understand how to accommodate you. This is quite common for Asian-owned restaurants. Overall, our waters were always full, the staff checked on us throughout the meal, and we even got a couple complimentary bowls of coconut sago!
Thank you so much, Urban Kitchen! I’ll be back when it’s warm enough for bingsu!
