The last couple times I have ordered from here have been subpar. I order the stew chicken and side of fried chicken. Although the portions are great and I get my food very fast, the quality of the food is very much lacking. Fried chicken is basically soggy chicken, and tastes very old. Seems like I received yesterday’s batch reheated. Stew chicken also tastes very old and not fresh at all. Not many Jamaican restaurants in New Britain and I see why. I would love to keep supporting but not if the quality remains like this. Just unacceptable.
Stopped in here to try a Jamaican beef patty while taking care of some business in the area and ended up noticing they had some really good-looking chicken.
I ended up leaving with the chicken and the beef patty, both of which were to my satisfaction & to my liking.
The staff here was courteous. I'll be back here in the future...
Uncle Ben’s is SO GOOD. From the food, to the restaurant, to the service. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The place is clean, multiple people working the front, service was fast. I got the oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage. The oxtail was delicious, tender, meat fell right off the bone. Cabbage was fresh and crunchy, rice was good too had good flavor. This is a newer spot so there aren’t as many reviews as there should be but this place is a hidden gem. More people should check it out!!! You won’t be disappointed.
I bought fried chicken twice just to make sure, and the chicken is raw and old. Do better Uncle Ben, really. Ackee from the can tough, beware they don't boil it. Only the rice and peas taste good to me so far. I'll continue to review until you do better.
This place is the most disrespectful restaurant in the area, they have absolutely 0 respect for customers, they sent anything they want, today I ordered 3 butter fish and a shrimp rasta pasta ended up receiving 2 chicken rasta pasta.
The food is okay. The restaurant is clean, the service is fine, but living in New Britain and this place being less than 5 min from me I am willing to travel to Hartford or Bloomfield for Jamaican food. It’s not nasty to me as some described but super okay.
I been here a couple of times but the last 2 times I came to uncle bens one of the girls that works there with glasses short I didn’t catch your name I’m sorry but you always Greet me and always show good service and you seem like a great person and your beautiful to incase your wondering I’m the chubby guy that walked in with the red sweater im Danny I just wanted to say thank you for being nice and making me feel great when I come to pick up food the food is always good and I recommend uncle bens to anyone looking to eat good Jamaican food
Worse customer service and the food is not that great to compensate for the lack of service. Use to be a regular customer just for the soup but was disappointed in how they handled giving me an incorrect order. Again, I was a regular customer and they wouldn’t upgrade from a small to a large soup ($3 difference) I explained that I drove 10+ miles to come back and get my correct order and it was the least they could do for the inconvenience. Sadly, I will not recommend and will never order from this place again. There are plenty of better food options in the area with way better prices. My husband who is Jamaican said the soups were the only meal close to tasting authentic. All other items in the menu were either dry and/or bland.
