Best KPortal Reviews

This is a weird 5-star rating. This place is in the middle of nowhere and painted up to a Bigfoot theme. The food is decent, but the owner and staff are wonderful sweethearts and the owner is having an incredible amount of fun. The Bigfoot theme is inexplicable, and really pushes this to a must see place. The owner did all the painting herself. The menu is extensive, and it's very much a diner. There are a lot of baked goods, but I'm gluten free, so I have no idea. She's just having more fun baking like the wild woman that she is. She's just adorable and this is kind of like something out of a David Lynch movie, only happy sane people and with no deaths.
Wowza. What a fun find! The place is totally Bigfoot dedicated and has a ton of cool internal and external murals. You can compete in the Bigfoot pancake challenge -- if you dare. Lots of merchandise - from food to gifts. Restaurant is good. Staff is kind and accommodating. Such a cool place literally in the middle of almost nowhere.
I've spent a lot of time over the years traveling throughout the Adirondacks, but this is the first time I really noticed U-B's, so I stopped in for breakfast since the nearby Hillside Diner recently closed. The service was friendly, and breakfast was very tasty and well-prepared.
The whole place is adorned with bigfoot-themes paintings by a local artist, who I'm told is a retired school teacher. A sign indicates "one stop shopping", which it indeed it is. It has a little of everything, which is important in such a far flung, sparsely populated area.
Driving along state route 3, you'll notice along the side of the road a parade of American flags planted in the ground that stretches for several miles. Every few feet among the flags, sits a boot, in honor of our fallen war heroes. This is the handiwork of U-B's owner, Kim, a proud veteran herself, she tells me, and the plan is to stretch the flag memorial parade for 30 miles. Quite an impressive memorial.
Anyone travelling through the area needing to stock up on supplies, or grab a bite to eat, would be well served to stop in to this quirky, but utilitarian outpost, because there's nothing else around to satisfy one's needs for miles and miles.
Five stars.
Stopped for a late breakfast.
Food was fine, service was terrible. Waitress complained about having to work Sundays, no silverware, no coffee refills. With only 6 covers in the place, I waited 30 minutes for food and part of my order was missing.
If they’d used half the time spent painting their wall murals to train their staff, it would have been great.
Hidden charge every time you use your debit card. Would be nice if this was posted! Never again!
I love this place! They've got a nice variety of groceries, prepared foods, gifts, camping supplies, sweatshirts, beer, gas - even books and sometimes houseplants, for sale. They have great coffee, sandwiches and, what my son declared..."the best fish fry I've ever had". I make a point of bringing my friends here whenever possible.
We came upon U-B's as we were vacationing in the North Country, and traveling from Alex Bay to Saranac Lake. It appeared like an oasis alongside the road, just as we were thinking about a lunch stop.
The exterior may show its age, but don't pass it up based on appearance! The cafe has a very extensive menu, and we had very fresh, tasty, and delicious salads. There were many other tempting items on the menu, as well as some incredible baked goods. Deapite the remote location, prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality.
The Bigfoot decor was whimsically delightful, and there was a HUGE library area in the back where one could freely take or leave books.
Attached is also a very well stocked convenience store. The employees were pleasant and helpful.
We would happily stop again if we ever find ourselves passing by again!
pretty much all ya need & better pricing than most around the area , locally owned & a huge community supporter/s
