Best KPortal Reviews

This is not a reflection of whatever kind of rooms they have. This is purely a review of their bar/restaurant.
My family of 4 came in for breakfast this morning. It was the worse my breakfast experience I’ve ever had in my life.
We ordered a round of coffees and water for beverages. A full carafe never once made a full trip around the table. Nearly every cup of coffee was poured with a separate to the back. We all shared a single spoon to stir. Also, the price of coffee is not disclosed on their paper menu. If it is, not noticeably.
The business was not busy, only 2 other tables were occupied. It was evident they were short staffed and the waitress was stressed. We were in no hurry, which turned out to be a very good thing.
Our table ordered:
#6 - The Breakfast Sampler: an egg, 2 pieces of French Toast, and 2 Links.
#8 - Corned Beef Hash and Eggs: Caned Corned Beef Hash with eggs. This person also ordered white bread toast, but it was never served.
A Side of Oatmeal: Oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar - cream wasn’t offered, but I used coffee cream.
A “Hot Buttered Cinnamon Roll” : This was not served hot, with butter or buttered, and had a side cup of cream-cheese frosting. It was most definitely from a can or pre-baked. There’s no way this was homemade.
And the order messed up the most - A #1- Tyee Breakfast “Served All Day”: 2 eggs over medium, bacon - crispy, and a dry toasted English muffin. This order was never served. First, half of a buttered English muffin was brought. The second half had been dropped but she was going to put another in. She forgot. The rest of the table was served with no flatware. We waited and waited and eventually asked for flatware at the counter. Then the waitress came back with a “#10 Country Scramble”. We notified her that it wasn’t what was ordered and she took the food back to the kitchen. She came back empty handed and notified us of her mistake. She’d put the order in incorrectly. “What do you want to do about it? I can put in a new order but it’ll be 25 minutes.” Ideally, we shouldn’t have to wait until after everyone else’s order since we ordered first and the mistake was on the restaurant’s part. After being there nearly 45 minutes at this point and with everyone else having food before them, our table asked for oatmeal instead so it wouldn’t take so long. It was taking a long time still. When we flagged our waitress down again, she asked what we were talking about. She said we had told her we didn’t need anything else. The oatmeal we were waiting on, was never coming. We decided to ask for the check and get our unfed friend some other food elsewhere. Our coffees were comped because our waitress felt bad.
What a horrible place. Rude dismissive staff. No one smiles. No one greets you. No one has a good personality. We poked into the bar area because I saw a restroom and I needed to take my 4 year old to use it. Some lady sprung up like the FBI pointing "He can't be in here! He can't be in here!" To my 4 year old, as if my 4 year old was gonna do a back flip behind the bar and start chugging whisky. It's like RELAX. These people were drinking already at 11am so, real stellar people ????????. I wanted to leave but my family sat down in the restaurant. We sat, literally 23 minutes before we were even acknowledged, let alone get water. The waitress didn't smile, was short, appeared annoyed and looked like she hated her life. This place and everyone in it was an awful experience. Stay away.
It doesn't look like much, inside or out, but the food is pretty good. I am talking about the restaurant only. I have no experience with the motel.
Had a great time. Stayed the night, had dinner, and then breakfast the next day. Service was great and personable, like you were visiting an old friend. Great food. Chicken tenders were an 11 out of 10.
Room 5 . This is a small mom and pop place so do not expect large corporation amenities! But for just sleeping - the bed was clean and comfortable. The heat worked as did the television and fridge! I didn't use the shower so cannot comment on that but my room was neat and tidy for sleeping in and I was grateful for a safe quiet place for a two nights stay. The location was perfect for my plans which took place outside.
I booked this because I didn't want to deal with traffic but I didn't know that this hotel is next to a trailer park and it's on the main road and it's across from the Apple market. I have the fish and chips here and those were really good and the service was really good but I did not want to stay at their hotel so I left and I drove home. I ended up losing $130 because I didn't know this so I'm trying to help the next person. I would probably stay at the Coupeville inn because that's a very nice place to stay.
I'm reviewing the restaurant portion only. Pretty good, not great, but good for what you might expect. American diner food in a very small town. I think the charm of the location, building, and fair prices make it somewhere I would, and have, returned to a few times a year for a comfort meal.
I hope to review the lodgings in the future.
Racist…don’t go there, ignored for 15 minutes and then just left. Kindly held the door for a white couple, let them do their thing first, greeted by hostess she says sit where you want, and they said we are just checking out. Hostess hands them a ticket and they leave. Hostess does not acknowledge my wife and I, just walks away. I decide then hey no other people waiting she said sit where you want to them. So we walk in and sit down, expecting her to see we’re there and bring some menus. Then a couple minutes go by, and I start getting that feeling. At this point I’m super hungry so I try to be cool and see if I can catch her walking by. Then she goes and takes some orders, then tends to another table. Then starts bringing back things people are ordering, still no contact, no menus, water zip. My wife is enraged at this point and starts blaming me for not saying anything, still trying to be cool. I finally felt so anxious and caught in the middle I just walked out. Bummer as I grew up in Oak Harbor and used to go here as a kid, hoping they’d be less racist 20 years later, guess not. Do yourself a favor and just go to Whidbey Coffee spare yourself the experience, it’s giving antebellum.
