Unprofessional experience and unreliable staff. Nice Atmosphere. I scheduled with a recommended stylist who rescheduled me to another stylist the day before my appointment. Unbeknownst to me. At the rescheduled appt the stylist was late; however, she met my expectation. During my appt i explained to the stylist that I'm looking for someone for the longhaul. I also explained that I'm looking for someone who can care for my hair as if they would want their hair cared for. My locs are new and the person who started me has a salon that was 3.5 hours going and 5.5 hours back. The trip every 4-8 weeks is undesirable. Before I left, I scheduled my next appointment for 6 weeks. Before the appointment, I contacted the stylist to request a reschedule. She canceled my appointment without rescheduling another appointment. First your late, now no reschedule upon request. Not happy.
I Spoke on the phone with Tony. She told me that the $50 I paid for my consultation would go towards my starter locs. When I got to my consultation, I was told that only $25 would go towards my starter locs. Another woman that worked at the salon overheard us speaking while she shampooed a client, and chimed in also saying that only $25 go towards my starter locs. I brung up what Tony had told me on the phone twice, but it was not addressed, and they just kept telling me that only $25 would go towards my starter locs, with nothing else said. Mistakes happen, but instead of apologizing and/or trying to fix the issue of miscommunication or offer another solution, all I got was “It’s $25” said to me 3 times. The lack of accountability for the miscommunication, and the lack of communication between the employees left me with a very bad first impression of that salon, which lead me to cancel my appointment and start my journey elsewhere.
I recently moved into the area and needed to find a salon to have my Sisterlocs shampooed. I discovered TSS online and saw that they specialized in natural hair care. It was easy to schedule a hydration treatment online. I was impressed, when you first walk in the salon is open, clean, inviting and the Ladies friendly and welcoming. Unlike "make you wait" salons, Ashley started my appointment early. I was offered coffee, tea hot chocolate or water while under the dryer which also impressed me. I love plants and they have a beautiful arrangement of various types that are thriving unlike some places where plants are dead or dying. I was offered the opportunity for TSS to be my backup salon if needed which truly made me decide that I will be returning for all services that I need that they provide. The prices are fair, the salon clean, the Ladies personable and professional. If you are looking for natural hair professionals schedule an appointment with the Ladies of TSS, you won't be disappointed!
Definitely a place filled with positive vibes and talented loctitians and natural hair stylist. Very clean and comfy.
This was my first time getting my hair retwisted at this salon. My loctician was Ashley and she was GREAT. My wash was relaxing and cleansing. The salon is very clean, and calming. I loved chatting with the other clients and stylist. Ashley listened to my concerns about my locs and answered my questions and gave me a plan of action. I am excited to see how my hair responds to Ashley's care.
I Was looking for a new loctician and found this shop on the humble. First of all, the atmosphere is beaufiful, the staff is FRIENDLY and the appointment time was kept. That is very hard to find these days. I have been going to different shops for years and this one by far is the most impressive. The customer service and professionalism is top notch. Even the shop conversations were mature and engaging. For me it was a breath of fresh air given some past experiences. I commend these women. Lets get into my hair! My stylist was Ashley. I decided to give her the name "magic hands" because from the time she touched my hair to the end she worked some magic! The shampoo felt like a massage. Even the way she wrapped my locs in the towel felt like heaven! Lol...the style I asked for was a little complex but she took her time and was focused on giving me what I wanted and she did that and more. It actually looked better than the picture I showed her!. I LOVE my hair and I am very particular. Definitely will be returning and I wish I would have found this shop sooner! I highly recommend.
Two Strand Salon is the epitome of black excellence in the natural/haircare industry. As a loc veteran of almost 12 years, it's been a journey finding the perfect fit in a stylist/salon. It's rare to find professionalism, time management and talent under ONE roof. You don't just get your hair done, you get an experience. The Two Strand Salon staff respect their client's time by getting you in and out...as in, you are in the stylist's chair at the starting time of your appointment. They exude a very zen vibe throughout the salon and they are multi-talented from servicing all natural hair textures, to styling and their expertise/mastery is color...check out their Instagram (@twostrandsalon) if you know, you know; all while using quality products on your hair. Finally, their prices are reasonable. If you are not with the typical hair salon shenanigans and I know I don't have to list them, then this is the establishment with which you want to book an appointment ASAP. Jo is my stylist, but they are all equally phenomenal.
