Fast friendly service. Food was great, I took pictures but only after I had eaten most of it. We ordered the beef tips w/mash potatoes and chicken fried steak w/mash potatoes, green beans and corn. The beef tips can be cut with a fork and seasoned just right (very tender). The chicken fried steak was tender and seasoned perfectly. The white gravy needs some bacon bits and breakfast sausage (just my opinion). The peach cobbler was not to my tasting but my wife liked it. The cobbler is why I gave 4 star. Will I eat here again!! Most definitely.
Went back today and tried beef tips over rice / hamburger and fries. Again I had eaten half the meal before taking pics ????
Today I tried the Red Beans and sausage and Pork Roast both was delicious, you have to try them both. The Pork Roast with it’s deep rich gravy and seasoning, you feel like you’re not going to be able to stop eating it’s so good. The Red Beans was cooked to perfection where some of the beans dissolve into the gravy making the gravy richer. “Oh my” what a treat, can’t wait to try more. For dessert I had bread pudding with a rum icing. EVERYTHING here is cooked fresh daily, if you miss mommas home cooking stop by and have a meal and reminisce. You won’t regret it.
Best chicken fried steak I’ve had in a long time. The portions were way more than I could ask for. It was delicious and well worth the money.
Best beef roast and mashed potatoes I've ever had, the new cornbread muffins are amazing! Fast, friendly staff. Thank you for a top notch home cooked meal!
I was impressed with the quality of food. The chicken fried steak was battered in house. The large serving size and taste is well deserving of bragging rights. Very few restaurants serve a fresh not frozen chicken fried steak. What could be improved is the serving method the paper under the chicken fried steak tears when cutting your steak. I will be back to eat I hope they appreciate the feedback. The service was really good , very kind people running the place. I didn't expect table service I'm not sure if you always get it but I did today.
If you love a variety of exceptional southwest La. Cuisine you must eat here. They take the old fashioned plate lunch off the charts. They made me a Chicken Fried steak that was the best ever. They also have pork roast beef pot roast and 3 kinds of homemade gravy off the charts. The veggies are excellent and they top your lunch with a roll that melts in your mouth. I will never pass through Lake Charles again without stopping here for lunch. How good was it really.....I tipped 50% for the first time in my life
Fantastic food and the owners (I assume) were very nice. Home cooked meal, huge portions and reasonable prices. It is right next to the gas station. Do not pass it up because of that. So good!!! We will be back.
I love with this place. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. And I tell you the bacon had just the right amount of crunch on it. I also got to try a peice of there small fried pork steak. Beleive me if you have eaten here that pork is anything but small. Lol. It's so juicy. Long with there amazing beef roast rice a gravy this could very well be my new spot. The owners or so very friendly. Thank yall for the great food and the great service. Ps. The bread pudding with rum sauce is it die for you must try it.
