I’m a big fan of southern comfort food and if I lived closer to this restaurant I would go more often. I ordered biscuits as an appetizer, although I didn’t like the butter the biscuits were amazing! They have free refills on their sweet tea which is amazing considering where I live it’s hard to get a good sweet tea. My fiancé ordered a mimosa and he said it was the best one he’s had in a long time, it was mixed perfectly. We had to order to go because the food took a while to be made and we were in a rush but everything was super tasty and the chips that came with my eggs were seasoned soo well!!! The place it’s self was super cute too! Definitely recommend!
Based on my visit May 5, 2024 to Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen and Bar with a guest.
Atmosphere: 5/5 stars
Tupelo Honey offers a charming and spacious setting at their Station Square location in Pittsburgh, perfect for a Sunday brunch or a casual dinner. The restaurant boasts ample seating options, including a pleasant patio and stylish indoor high tables, making it ideal for any weather or occasion. The vibrant, yet relaxed environment perfectly complements the Southern-inspired theme.
Service: 4/5 stars
Service at Tupelo Honey was commendable. Our server, a kind gentleman who also tended the bar, was attentive and prompt with our orders, although he didn't introduce himself by name. Despite this, his efficient and friendly service added to our positive dining experience.
Food: 5/5 stars
The culinary highlight was the Sriracha honey chicken and waffles — a delightful blend of sweet and spicy that was both visually appealing and deliciously satisfying. The "Biscuits For A Cause" appetizer not only tasted great but also felt good supporting a charitable cause. The meals were expertly prepared, and the arrival time from order to table was impressively quick.
Parking: 5/5 stars
Parking in Station Square is unique and part of the overall experience. With ample paid parking options, both on the street and in garages, there's a convenient choice for everyone. Although it involves a bit of a walk to the restaurant, the location's accessibility and the scenic surroundings make it worthwhile.
Overall: Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen and Bar delivers an exemplary dining experience, combining a wonderful atmosphere with great food and service. The easy parking completes the picture, making it a must-visit spot in Pittsburgh.
Nice restaurant with some nice southern dishes available. Very clean and modern looking which may seem contrary to a typical southern restaurant but it works and fits the Station Square atmosphere. Our party of four did not have to wait to be seated on a weekday at lunch time. Jason our server was great, courteous, prompt offering menu suggestions. We did not wait long for our food, which was very good, hot and fresh. Thank you Jason for making my first visit to Tupelo's a good one.
Been to a few TH locations along the east coast and they’re generally solid and decent. So, when in Pittsburgh and needing to meet up for a business dinner I selected this location. This is a touristy area, so there’s not much in the way of original and “chef-inspired” restaurants to choose from in the Station Square area.
Our server, Dani was very helpful and friendly… She gave some good recommendations, which we actually took and she kept a great check on our table. The venue is decent, we really liked the railway mural on the wall, especially considering this building used to be a train engine shop.
The food was overall was decent, but far from special or extraordinary. They do have an interesting and fun menu, but so much of the food is fried. The meatloaf was really good and had a very unique style. The tortilla soup was ok, but was barely warm, definitely not hot. The side salad was decent and made with fresh ingredients, but the dressing was on the bland/unseasoned side. The cauliflower bites were ok and seemed like they were made from fresh cauliflower, but the flavor wasn’t quite there, and finally, the fried green tomatoes were boring and bland… definitely not like what I’ve had when visiting low-country.
Overall, it’s decent and solid, just not great.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar was a nice restaurant in Station Square. The area is very busy and lively but absolutely beautiful in the evening. The restaurant is close to the paid parking area. I was surprised to find that you pretty much needed a reservation to have a table in the dinning area. The greeters were polite and directed me to the bar. The restaurant decor is an aesthetic vibe. Has a bright, fresh, crisp, and clean feel. The bar tenders were very polite and attentive. The menu is selective with something for everyone. There are GF options available. Prices were somewhat on the higher side for the smaller portion sizes received but still in tune with prices of the surrounding area. The food was delicious! I wouldn't necessarily say "southern cuisine" but my food definitely had spice! The dessert selection is small but the few items are very tasty and appetizing for the taste buds! Will I return again... Maybe!
My wife and I always go and try out different places to go and eat. When she recommended this place, elegant and fancy for my liking and considering you have to have a reservation. But do understand that it gets quite busy and tight for space, luckily we made it just in time for some good food and drinks.1 I'm very particular about certain dishes when comes to southern cuisine, I noticed that they had chicken and waffles and grits and shrimp it was a hard decision but for the test was the grits and shrimp and I have to say ????????????... Will return but I don't know if Grandma would have been okay with it... lol.
100/10 a perfect Sunday spot! The food is phenomenal! Everything came out hot and fresh! Order the biscuits with any other appetizer you will be happy with that choice!
The restaurant was fairly busy, which was expected on a Saturday at 2pm. The high ceilings create a loud environment. Our food took a long time to arrive, but our server kept us updated with how much time there was left. I had the chicken and waffles, classic. There was an option to update chicken thighs for a breast, I should have done that. The chicken was over-fried which gave the skin a chewy texture, and due to the small size of the thighs, not much meat. We also ordered the fried pickles, which were really good. The kids loved the blueberry waffles. The barbacoa grits were really good as well, but a bit spicier than expected. Overall, a good place to eat!
