Typical crazy morning at ABIA and I was a first time clear traveler that needed finger prints and an eye scan. Danielle was AMAZING! She not only handled the million other customers, questions in all directions, she got me through with ease and a smile. Made my travel day!
Buenos Dias,
My name is Sarah Ratto and I would like to give feedback about my experience with Austin Airport and TSA. On 3/28 my American Airlines flight was delayed on the tarmac for 45 min at 6pm with a connecting flight at 7:30pm coming in international. I kept getting texts saying they were waiting so I was rushing to get through customs and back through security check #1 to try and catch my flight, along with many other families, American Citizens. When going through security, we calmly expressed our hast and it was met with little to no empathy or respect especially from an African American woman who checked my bag. She went through the man’s bag in front of me, rudely acknowledged our predicament, and when done with his bag walked away and began putting tubs back. I pleaded with her and sent my 13 year old son to gate 28, 1/4 mile away, to try and catch the flight. She told me to wait while she put tubs away which if you check your cameras, there were other attendees to do that. She pulled out one 12 oz hot sauce and one 4oz hit sauce and told me I had to throw it or go back. I told her one was 4oz but go ahead and throw it. She threw them both.
I missed my flight.
The next day 3/29 I was stopped again for the other 4oz bottle in my bag and they let me through, but I was in tears. I was treated like a criminal. I was asked if I had sharp objects in my person, patted down, stripped of my shoes and jacket, asked to raise my hands for scan and the scan was Incorrect saying we had objects at our knees and hips. Nothing was there!
Austin TSA treats their customers like criminals and is rude on top if it. I will never fly into this airport again! I though Texans were known to be courteous, not in Austin.
Incompetent, rude, and lack of knowledge on how to perform their job. I showed up 2 hours early for my 6am flight. Normally the screening process takes 15 mins. This time I waited 30ish min (no problem) and then got all the way up to get screened and they refused to accept any of my ID paperwork. I had to have someone come “verify” me. This person took 1.5hrs to come. I was the first in line to get verified, he passed me and went to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th person first and then came back to me. I spoke up and explained how long I have been waiting and they didn’t care. Once they finally checked my identification the guy looked at the other TSA member scanning everyone’s ID and said “this is plenty of paperwork, why didn’t you let this man through?” ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I waited this long to be verified in 5 seconds?! But it was too late, I missed my flight and now American Airlines won’t refund me. So now I have to miss my grandmothers funeral. Ridiculous!!!
Will and I decided to get our Pre-check. We completed everything online and drove down to the crazy Austin Airport. Thank God we were not traveling. It is Friday and was crazy busy. Vwe had appointments and the whole process took about 10 minutes each. The staff person was super friendly. Hopefully, we will have our precheck numbers before our next flight in June!
The "least busy" days still have huge waits. The busiest days have almost none. It's like they cannot figure out scheduling.
I wish I could give the office zero stars. The person here at the office was so unhelpful when I tried to get my id checked to renew my TT number. She literally sent me away telling me she couldn’t help, which is completely different than what the pre check website says. So unhelpful!!!
0 out of 0 would not recommend. 0 personal skills. Always acts like you are a problem. Will not address you. Yelling at people for not moving fast enough, all while only having 1 line open for 200 people. Too many people standing around for not opening another line. "Clear" people now cut in front of "Pre-check". Regular line now fastest. Wrote all of this while 4 people back from security check. That's how slow they are. Oh, how many terrorists have they caught. 0. But they will sure take my water bottle for having spit in the bottom.
Couldn’t be more rude People working security
You are looked upon and spoken to with disdain One yelling this out another yelling another. If you move 1 step in the wrong direction you are chastised like a child we are all in this together and just trying to make a safe transition to our destination show some compassion and restraint instead of demeaning tones and dirty looks
