This place was so great that we went here twice in two days! All of the food was fresh and delicious. They had a map on the back of the menu that showed just how local all of the ingredients were. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and service was great too. Would love to return if I make it back to the area!
Everyone enjoyed their meals (bison burgers, lamb, and salads), but the black garlic mashed potatoes were the star. Had to order a second side of those.
Delicious food and great service. Parking lot at side. Meal in bar but deserved to be in a fine dining room. The vension was perfect as was the guiena fowl. Will be back!!!!
We arrived 5 minutes before the kitchen closed i.e. 8.30pm but the very friendly and welcoming waiter/ bar staff was very kind enough to take our order in. We ordered Sea-Food platter (we didn’t realise it was a cold platter) and the Market Fish along with kids Mac n cheese. Each and every item was very delicious to the point we couldn’t be bothered taking photos and just tucked in. Oh did I mention the amazing ambiance? Check out the photos.
The only thing is it is on the expensive side for a bistro. For example only the kids mac n cheese with garlic bread was £8.50.
Highly recommend this place.
Beautifully renovated bar, restaurant, and hotel with a world class whisky selection. Food was fresh and tasty and the service was excellent! Either before or after your meal you owe it to yourself to grab a dram of something over in the spirit locker. I saw whisky options there that I've never seen anywhere else and the collection was beautifully curated.
This place in its current iteration is a real gem in northeast of Scotland. Perhaps it is a bit too far on the fine dining spectrum for its own good in its environs, but it is well worth the reasonable cost and somewhat sterile atmosphere for some of the best food in the region.
Having been in fine restaurants from Glasgow on up, Toots stands firmly toward the top with highlights such as the beef shoulder and the roe deer, not to mention the excellent sides, all of which were excellent.
Toots is worth a trip to Rothes alone, but if one is in town for one of the many world-class distilleries in the area, it only makes sense to pair it with world-class cuisine as can be found here.
When first opened after renovation the Toots bar area was thriving and provided fantastic quality bar meals. This is the first time I've visited in a while and arriving at 7pm on a Saturday night the Toots bar was empty, not a single soul around. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The menu has definitely changed, out with the good old favourites and replaced by a menu with items that sounded sourced from Masterchef. The starters, though extremely small, we're really nice (Local Roe Deer, and Shetland Scallops) the main course was much better portioned and was very tasty, Buffalo Shoulder, and a Buffalo Burger. The sweet however was extremely disappointing for those who chose the Clootie Dumpling, an extremely dry what seemed like Ginger Cake (nothing closely resembling a Clootie Dumpling) and covered in a green tasteless foam (described as Espuma) - luckily I had chosen the Biscuits and Cheese. The whole evening we were there a couple came in, as well as a single person. There was no atmosphere and the place has lost its buzz and life. I'm not sure if that because of the new overly fancy menu for a bar area, or the fact the locals no longer feel welcome in a bleak atmosphere. Unfortunately both the menu, and the dead atmosphere will stop me from returning anytime soon, which is such a shame for a once great local business.
A fantastic haute cuisine experience from an obviously very accomplished chef. A definite go-to for foodies on the hunt for something a little bit special! Highly recommended!
Really nice service, great fries/(chips?), and tasty food. Huge selection of whiskey around on their other side.
