I normally love this place but this time was just not great. The staff was lovely and kind but the food we had brought to us was upsetting and unpleasant. I ordered the Rachel like I normally do but this time it was sour and almost rancid. I couldn’t finish it. And something that really caught me off guard was the white pepper they had used to season the French fries. If you know white pepper you know the smell that emanates. Not pleasant. My partner ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was alright. A very big sandwich for the price and the spice level was almost too high. But once again the fries were throwing us both off. Over all I’d have to give this a 4.7/10
Normally the food and service is great, but this morning my friend and I came in for our weekly breakfast. When we first arrived we stood waiting to be seated for a long time and there was only (two) other tables with people there. The people behind the counter acted as if we were invisible. Two ladies carried on their conversation laughing and talking to each other as if we did not exist. My friend who is disabled was having a hard time standing so long. Finally they finished their conversation and decided to get us a table. I would understand if they were busy but we were 1 of 3 tables in the whole place. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. After receiving our drinks we were waiting on our food and I noticed that Larry's coffee cup had bright pink lipstick all around the brim! Not just a little either. The marks were so clear you could see the creases from the person's lips ????! I walked up front and asked one of the ladies who had been carrying on their conversation when first arrived for a manager, she instantly snapped at me that she was the manager. I asked her if she could come to our table and she rolled her eyes and sighed loudly to let me know just how much it bothered her. When she got to our table I showed her the lipstick all over the coffee cup, I said this is disgusting. She then loudly blurted out THANKS FOR EMBARRASSING ME!! I looked at her and said no one heard me but they certainly heard you. She stormed off like a little bratty child slinging open the door to the kitchen. The waitress came and gave him a new coffee, but when our food arrived mine was cold and looked as if someone smashed it. I will not be going back there. Again nor will anyone else I know.
I would really say “4.5 stars” but that’s not an option with Google Reviews, so chose 5 stars as this place is really good! Huge menu, including options for kids and vegetarians, very friendly staff, clean environment, we had great wait service from “Helen” and our meals were terrific. My hubby got the “Rachel” sandwich which was very lean, tender pastrami with sauerkraut, thousand island dressing and Swiss cheese on grilled rye. I had the Turkey Reuben with delicious house roasted and sliced Turkey, sauerkraut, thousand island sauce and Swiss cheese grilled on rye bread. You get to pick 2 side dishes with these types of sandwiches so we got their creamy coleslaw which was excellent and the steak fries. The only reason I said “really a 4.5 star experience” was because I asked for my fries to by super crispy but mine were not as hot and crispy as I wanted. The fries had great taste though! The sandwiches also come with a cold, delicious, crunchy garlic dill pickle on the side. Fresh brewed iced tea was excellent - no off taste from bad water/ice or anything. Both my husband and I absolutely loved the fresh sliced deli meat on our sandwiches- really tender and so flavorful. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get. There is also an in-house bakery with awesome desserts: cakes, cookies, key lime pie. We shared a piece of the “chocolate layer cake with chocolate mousse filling - delicious! They have a great breakfast menu, too. Glad we made a reservation online because when we arrived there was a waiting line out the door! We will be back to enjoy another great meal here!
I’ve been buying tuna salad, on rye, No Tomato, for years. Always great. This time it was pretty bad. The wait was longer than usual. They ignored my request for No Tomato. There was a big drop in the amount of tuna salad on the sandwich. All this for $16. ,
Food was better at 7-11 but the coffee was ok. I can see why there were only a few people there now. But the worst part of being there came when one of the people working there yelled at two older gentlemen sitting at a table to our left. She just barked out : thanks for embarrassing me! Then she stormed off into the back somewhere. Apparently she must have known these people and didn't care about the other people dinning. I will not take my wife there anymore. To bad it used to be our favorite place to go.
Excited to try TooJay’s but highly disappointed. The Rubin had no Russian dressing on it, the onion rings were swimming in oil and the coleslaw was flavorless. The one positive was the pastrami was cooked perfectly.
Great food. Good service. An extensive menu. Large portions. Delicious!
Our waitress Barbara made the experience complete!!! Yummy food great atmosphere easy parking reasonable prices. Thank you Barbara and TooJays!
