Was here for a week on storm duty during a statewide power outage for a tree company, absolutely phenomenal food and service. From the cooks to the waitresses , I couldn't believe what this place has done for all the line and tree crews keeping them fed. If I could give them 10 stars I would. The food is top notch wow
Don't let the fact it's a convenient store fool you. There are tables in a little diner section in the back. I had the sausage gravy and biscuits with scrambled eggs. It was delicious! Certainly better than going to the "Arches" down the street...
We stopped here years ago and it was so awesome … The food was really delicious
The staff was awesome sauce too ????
When we visited Machias, the only places open for breakfast were McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, and Tom's. Don't be deceived by appearances. Go in the mini mart and there's a little restaurant at the back. Order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. Get your beverages in the mini mart, then pay for everything at the mini mart checkout counter. I had sausage gravy & biscuits with an egg and hash brown patty. It was fine, but nothing special.
Cute little restaurant hidden behind a Citgo, next door to the Bluebird Motel. The entrance is through the Citgo, not the side.
Food is inexpensive, home cooked feel. Very popular with the locals, so calling ahead will help get your food sooner. We came the first time when it was incredibly busy and we didn't wait too long for food.
Not sure if there's a secret handshake or a password like a speakeasy, but I couldn't get any service. The girl handed me a menu, told me to take a seat and she would be by shortly to take my order. Twenty minutes later, I still hadn't seen any staff. Nobody to take my order. Nobody cleaning tables. Nothing. They just disappeared.
No clue how the food tastes. They never gave me an opportunity.
Use to be the place to go to grab a quick bite to eat and go back to work but no longer the warmers are always empty and pizza looks like Dat old if you have time to order and wait food is good they have great salads out but no dressings for them was only good place in town sadly no more
The stars up until the senior cook retired would have been 5. We have eaten there constantly for years. We hope the new cooks are just getting used to things and the former delicious excellence of the cafe will return. A top item--breakfast burrito--as of a week ago, they charge for each veggie (50 cents), but there were 1/2 the veggies included! They should just go up on the price $2 or so, and still include the generous amounts they always have. Please consider that! And our eggs were lukewarm--they've always been individually cooked for each person before. Please, Tom's, make sure to keep the excellence of before...and not change because the trusted senior cook has gone.
