Best KPortal Reviews
The Haddock was great, and the breading on the fish was well seasoned. The BBQ burger was very good as well. The Brussel Sprouts were middling. The beer menu had several good options.
Casual, great food, better beer in a fun atmosphere.
We came here looking for good food, a quality and diverse beer selection, and a casual atmosphere to enjoy conversation with friends. We easily got all of that!
The beer selection on tap was large and had a variety of styles — something for everyone to enjoy. The food was also quite tasty. Burger was perfectly done and the salad came seemed fresh and tossed in just the right amount of dressing (not drowning in it). Roast beef sandwich was also one of the best we had in a long time. They also had a lot of nice side items — well beyond just fries and chips.
The menu had a good variety overall with tacos, fish and chips and other standard fare. I have no doubt that each would be equally delicious.
The place itself felt like an old school sports bar with lots of TVs playing games, but not so in your face with it that it seemed obnoxious. It was just right.
We will definitely be back!
I love fried chicken and waffles and when I travel South it’s always a mission for me to find the best. This was the #1 of my travels and it’s practically in my Malvern backyard and not in the South! My friend and I split the sandwich today with the amazing cornbread waffles, fried chicken and the candied jalapeños and I was in heaven!!! Also all the food I saw looked amazing- onion soup, chili, burgers- Thank you. During lunch only the bar is open but the restaurant looked like a better atmosphere for dinner and I’ll be back as a regular for this treat. People also recommend fish and chips here- maybe next time.
My first time at TJs, meeting friends for lunch.
GOOD:
•Service was outstanding. Our server (wish I remembered her name) was so sweet and accommodating.
•Nice booths. Very clean property.
•My French Dip, (which was not a true French Dip- round roll and no dip, see photo) with Ciabatta roll and Cole Slaw was fabulous. Huge portions. I love that they offer a Cole Slaw option instead of fries.
•The big mugs of water are amazing. It was all I needed.
NOT SO GOOD:
•Dark atmosphere. OK, it's a tavern.
•The Menu. If their name were more representative of their menu, like TJs South-West Tavern, or TJs Hot and Spicy Tavern, we may have gone to nearby Nudy's for a different selection.
It's very difficult to find something on their menu that doesn't have the words Sriracha, Jalapeno, Chipotle, Gochujang, 5 spice rubbed or blackened. I realize South West and spicy Asian sauces and spices are trending, but the spicing often overpowers delicate chicken, seafood and salads. Oh wait...the hotter your food, the more beer you order. ????
Get familiar with the menu before you go.
Otherwise, it's not bad.
First time coming to TJ's and the food and service were really good! Had the Hangover burger without a bun and a side of the bacon brussel sprouts. Both were delicious - the burger was a great size, nicely cooked with a fried egg, cheddar cheese, and bacon on top. The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and had a good serving of bacon top.
Lots of parking outside and lots of options on their menu. Would definitely recommend!
A coworker treated us to lunch from here and it was delicious. Everyone loved their food. The only issue I had was that I felt bad when I realized the 2 short rib tacos I picked cost $20. They make it look like the taco is full of meat by stuffing the ends but then barely any meat in the middle. They were delicious but I don't think I'd pay $20 again for 2 tacos some chips and a little guacamole. I feel like my co workers got a bit more bang for their buck with their mushroom quesadilla and Korean BBQ chicken wings/chicken fingers.
I have recently gotten take out food and I almost never take the time to write reviews. I felt compelled to as I’ve been extremely pleased with their food. The portion sizes are amazing, we love the variety of food for our family of 4, and the food always taste amazing and good quality. I’m just asking myself why don’t I order more often. I highly recommend dining in or take out.
Our waitress was fantastic and the atmosphere was good. We also liked the outdoor seating. I ordered a frozen mixed drink called the "painkiller." Delish! My friend ordered the chicken wrap with coleslaw, which she said was great. Unfortunately, what I ordered was not. The Hangover burger with brussel sprouts on the side. Both were overcooked and dry. I couldn't eat either, but didn't want to be rude and send it back. I will be trying something different next visit.
