Lovely place on the Tissington Trail.
Andy, the owner, was full of info and friendly cheer. Much required on a wet cycle ride with two boys.
Handy little stop. Customer service could be improved.
So you buy two Magnum's (great that one was Vegan, many thanks) but both of them upon opening are smashed.
I walk back from the table to the kiosk and show the man. He gives me a funny look, the woman out back gives me a funny look. He says it must have happened during transport. I give them a funny look (as in AND???) and nothing forthcoming.
No replacements, no offer of half price or something, no freebies.
I said I hope we don't get it all over ourselves eating it.
It wasn't as nice, shards of chocolate falling away, having to eat with the wrappers held under our chins. They are normally to suck and savour.
So 5* for location 0* for customer service. A 3* is therefore being generous.
Customer service is everything, I know that, it's what I have to do.
Additional: Thanks for replying, you saw both. Rather more than cracked. I had only left the kiosk one minute and not gone further than the table. The evidence was in front of you. Eating smashed ones is difficult. Fast, not fun, not worth £2.50 a go.
A real gem of a find. Next to the Tissington Trail it is easily accessed on foot, by car or on bicycle and the carpark is large. There are tables and chairs outside and also some picnic benches a little way further along the trail where you can sit and enjoy your refreshments. The choice of drinks and snacks/light meals is good and reasonably priced.
We had sandwiches and coffees - tasty, fresh bread with plenty of filling the sandwiches were great and the coffees (espresso, long black and lattes) were also good. If you fancy something sweet, there is a choice of baked tarts and cakes and also ice creams, dog ice-cream too!
The kiosk building is also home to public toilets which are well-used, but super clean and in good working order with plenty of toilet paper (in the ladies.)
The business owner was friendly and chatted as he prepared our sandwiches. He obviously cares about his business and customers.
Just a really nice place to stop on our return cycle ride from Ashbourne. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a drink and a sit-down when in the area. Fabulous!
Great spot to take a break with coffee and superb plum tart. Owner chatty and friendly. Excellent service Thankyou!
Great little kiosk, sandwiches, toasties, hot drinks, crisps, chocolate and plum tart. Plum tart is very good wish I had it with hot custard. If your passing I would recommend for refreshments.
Only bought 2 coffees but what a genuinely nice gent who served us. Pleasantly engaging, took time to converse and with a nice dry sense of humour.
I agree with others, the plum tart with ice cream was special. Add to this the apple and rhubarb tart. We also got helpful route guidance which saved a few miles on the A52.
Wee kiosk next to car park and disused railway now enjoyed by many cyclists and walkers. The ice cream was great. Please pop by, it is well worthy.
