Such a lovely relaxed site in such a lovely peaceful location. Owners are very nice and relaxed ( also helped my friend fix her van as she had problems). It's a basic site with 2 toilets in each block m/f and 3 showers so numbers of campers are limited. You are right on the banks of the loch. There is a cafe closed by and plenty of walking routes. Take everything you need as there are no shops around the area.
Stayed at Tibbie Shield Inn overnight whilst on the Southern Upland way. The website isn’t very clear about this but caravans are available so I’d recommend giving them a call if you fancy staying even if you aren’t camping. Alistair and Eleanor were extremely kind to me even though I arrived late and tired. The view from their place is incredible. Value for money was great and overall I wish I could have stayed longer- thanks again Alistair and Eleanor!
We camped here overnight on 20th July 2023. Owners (Alistair and Eleanor) were very welcoming and the only two rules we were given was to not play phone music and to be quiet after 12am which we found to be reasonable and fair without being too restrictive. The surroundings were beautiful and we had access to showers and toilets for a very fair price of £8 per person. Logs and kindling available to buy if you wanted a fire at good prices. This was my first ever camping experience and I would definitely recommend this site.
Came back from a camping trip here and loved it so much that we have booked up to go back this week again, lovely owners, who are very welcoming and helpful, we were originally booked in for 3 nights but ended up staying 4,nice setting beautiful views, loch side so we could use our kayak, toilet and shower block, fire pits dotted around site, fire wood available. Thank you Alistair look forward to seeing you soon for another visit.
We saw there were a few tents and campervans here, so dropped in to see if we could stay over. We were welcomed warmly, and directed to where we could pitch our tent (we chose right at the end of the loch so a great view but be aware that there can be a breeze coming off the loch). We met the owners and they were very friendly, good people, and they were happy for our 2 year old to play with their son's toys in the yard (and play fetch with their collie). Amenities for campers are basic (water, toilets and was hand basins) but there is also a cafe. Overall, a great place to stay, beautiful surroundings and we were made to feel very welcome. Inexpensive as well. We'll be back.
Absolutely love this place its so pretty and peaceful owners have always been a pleasure and went above and beyond whenever we have stayed we go every year for a few days my friend and our kids its wild camping but safe the kids love the water and the camping. Your allowed your fire with logs and kindling on site and there has bever been any problems the 3 years we have been visiting. My friend and her dog had an accident with a fish hook and were taken to the hospital and the vets by one of the workers on the campsite other man stayed with me and kids to update us on any news. I wouldn't camp anywhere else arrived home today and want to go back asap ???? ❤
I arrived alone, unplanned at Tibbies last evening at about 18:00. The owners could not have been nicer and made me most welcome. I was shown a pitch which had a firepit adjacent. Had an excellent evening, meeting several other campers. Will be back soon for sure. Well recommended +++
The site provides basic facilities with a toilet and sink, but no showers. The camping ground is uneven and stony but nice location next to the loch. The Inn does not serve alcohol and is open restricted hours for soft drinks and food. Access to the Southern Upland Way from this site is confusing. You may prefer to wildcamp instead.
