Even on a weekday it’s busy here. Around 10 am there are no more empty seats. For twenty dollars you can have a very filling and tasty breakfast here. Traditional classic menu (omelet, bacon and pancakes with coffee). Helpful staff. Great retro atmosphere. I can't say anything negative, I was satisfied.
Wow. Awesome spot, classy and classic. Views of the mountains from big windows in the dining room. The London fog was incredible. They have non dairy milks too (:
And oh man, those home fries were so good, the SEASONING.
Our only note was the toppings for omelets are just tossed on top, so they were going everywhere. We recommend cooking them into the omelet. Everything was delicious though. Service was great (:
I have to say…. I do not understand how this is not a five star restaurant. There isn’t a lot around where we are staying - when we saw this cafe we weren’t all that excited (don’t judge by the looks/location!). We then decided to go for lunch before the eclipse. The server was stellar. The time it took to order and get the food/drinks was quite fast and let me tell you - that food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend and so do each of the five other members of my family! No one was unhappy and we all left talking about the experience. My daughter STILL talks about the Baja Burger! She is NOT interested in food, so that says A LOT!!! I had the chicken and waffles and I was more than pleased. Everyone was very happy! Ps. Their bread is homemade and incredible!!
Went here for breakfast on vacation. They had great reviews so I was excited to check them out. They have a lot of appetizing selections, however the combinations are limited. There are no platters that come with pancakes, waffles or French toast and eggs and sausage/bacon. Either you're getting meat with toast/biscuit or pancakes and nothing else. You can add items a la carte, but that can become expensive.
Taste-wise, it was a mixed bag. I had bacon, eggs, grits and a biscuit, with a side order of French Toast. The bacon wasn't crispy and the grits were unusually creamy and sweet. The eggs were fine, biscuit was fine. I enjoyed the French toast. I would have liked to have tried the blueberry cream cheese French toast or one of the specialty items, but they came with no sides, so you just have to add on everything else, which just drives the price up. They had Dutch Apple waffles, which sounded good, but that's all you get. Even if they charged a little more, it would be nice to have the option. Being that I'm only in town for a short time, I wanted to try a little bit of everything. If I lived near here and had a chance to go more frequently, I might try out some of their other options.
Got seated right away and very quick and great service and food! Jackie was very attentive to all of our needs as a table of 7!
Ok, I would have put more pictures of the food; however, my family swarmed all of the containers I neatly placed onto the table (to open and take pictures)... faster than a swarm of angry hornets. ????
We're up from Charleston, SC so we had high expectations for breakfast and Thunderbird Cafe did not disappoint!!! The food was amazing! The staff are amazing (shout out to Kacey)!! Also, Nick helped carry our bags to the truck and we appreciated it!
I ordered quite a bit so we could have a family style selection (again- family attacked it).
We ordered omelets, Reubens Breakfast, Ranchero Bowl, Andre the Giant, Wild & Wicked, Pancake Taco (chocolate peppermint), Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Cinnamon roll, Strawberry Cinnamon roll and Mini Peach Pie. All of it was fantastic!! If you're at Massanutten Resort- skip the resort breakfast and hit Thunderbird!!!
The mimosas, chorizo waffle, and service were 10/10. Jackie S was an excellent server!
THE WAFFLES!!! Like no other… the waffles are so light and fluffy I highly recommend, you will want another. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our waitress was super nice and informative given this was our first time here.
