Stopped in for lunch today. The atmosphere is wonderful, with old signs and other antiques. The server was very friendly and welcoming, giving me some background and history of the place. I had the beef brisket sandwich, which comes with waffle fries. There are extra sauces at the table to flavor to your liking. The server later talked me into trying the Key Lime pie. All the food was excellent, and if you are in the area it is definitely worth a stop. Also, there is live music on weekends.
Not a bad place. The staff were very friendly. They gave us a heads up about the parking lot close by and it's a bit risky because the lot is owned by a towing company. You do the math.
The nachos weren't bad but they weren't my favorite. They had chili on them. If you like chili you'll love them. I'm not a huge fan of chili.
The ribs were DELICIOUS! I LOVED THEM.
The Mac & Cheese was good. Not kraft krap. It was real homemade-style made with elbow pasta.
The waffle fries and sweet potato tots were perfect. Just enough crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
The atmosphere was cool, laid back, and casual. The place had a lot of art on the walls but we were in a corner out of sight so I didn't get any good photos.
The bathrooms were nice and clean. That's always a plus.
The server was really nice and very helpful.
All around a good place.
Best,
Clint

What can I say, I've been going here for over a decade and I love this place! The staff are very friendly. The eating area is clean, tables, floors, and walls are natural wood which gives it a really nice feeling. A lot of antiques hang from the ceiling and there are beautiful murals on the walls. Bathrooms are clean. My only pet peeve, I wish they would clean that beautiful big mirror behind the bar. Years ago I watched the staff removing the liquor bottles, wiping them off and cleaning the mirror. It has a nice sparkle when it's clean. It's usually one of the first things I notice when I come in and lately it looks like it hasn't been cleaned since. Lol It has a grimy look to it. But I'm not eating off the mirrors so I can live with it.
It's located downtown. The theme of the restaurant is of course New Orleans, Southern, and jazzy. The only issue can sometimes be parking. Especially after the pandemic when they removed some of the parking spaces for outdoor dining. You have to find metered parking on the streets. There is a parking lot next door but it's too expensive. I normally find parking because I avoid rush hour and busy weekends. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous and priced well.
Normally, you are greeted at the door. After they seat you, they offer a bowl of fresh popcorn. The food is excellent! Very very rarely have I had an issue with my food but if you do have an issue, let them know right away. They will quickly rectify the issue and replace the item. I've tried almost everything on the menu. Lol My favorite, in a nutshell, are the slow-cooked ribs and the brisket. The brisket I usually need to smother in barbecue sauce though because sometimes it's a little too dry. Their barbecue sauces are amazing and homemade. My favorite is their bourbon sauce. Their BBQ smoked burger is amazing! The cheese is real cheese, leafy green lettuce, crispy fried onions, and BBQ sauce. I don't eat it with mayo or ketchup because I don't think it needs it. It comes with waffle fries but I substitute it for another side. My favorite sides are their collard greens, mashed potatoes, and their cornbread with honey butter. I like their baked beans as well but you can tell the cooks that make them season and cook them differently and don't always follow the same recipes. Sometimes it's amazing and sometimes it's just okay. This is not a big deal. Their desserts are amazing as well. I love their bread pudding. Their alcoholic beverages are great. They have a nice menu selection.
They have a stage for live bands, usually for weekends after 9:00 p.m. You can check out their calendar of events on their website and it will list the bands that are performing that weekend. If you can't make it often, try not to miss their Mardi Gras every year in February! I went for my birthday once and tried not to miss it every year since. They have a special New Orleans food and drink menu during Mardi Gras and an excellent band playing. Staff are super prompt with your food and very friendly. I have been to New Orleans and it gives me the exact same vibe as the big easy. Some of the underground bars there very are similar and really laid back. This is and will probably always be one of my favorite places to go in the city. It is truly a gem.
I have had a lot of BBQ in my life and career By far top 3 ????!!! The food is on Point ???? 100 ????!!! The Beef Short Rib !!! Yes Please ???? and yes you will get the Meat ???? Sweets!!!!! Amazing ???? Great Job ???? ???? ????
Came here for date night with my husband. First time here and they did not disappoint. The music was nice our waitress was the best. Very nice and on point with all our needs and our order was on point. I got the Mac and cheese with the burnt tips and my husband got the pulled pork sandwich with waffle fries. I got the homemade raspberry ice tea which was delicious. For dessert ???? we got the key lime pie and the guiness brownie. Soooo good. I have no complaints on this place and definitely will recommend it to family and friends. We will be there again very soon.
We had a group of 8 at 12:30 pm on Monday, 4/8/24. We were seated right away. Our waitress, Keitha, was great and got everything right!
Here’s what I had:
- Corn Bread with Honey Butter ($3.49): Soo delicious! Comes with 4 pieces. Plenty to share!
- Beef Brisket Bar-B-Que ($21.99, comes with 2 sides): Wow, the brisket was so tender and amazing. I got it with the waffle fries and sweet potato tots and both were deeeelicious. I also tried someone else’s mac and cheese, which I wasn’t as impressed with. I definitely recommend the sweet potato tots! It was plenty of food.
Others got the Chopped Salad with Blackened Chicken ($9.99 + $7), Burnt Ends (I believe this was also $21.99), and Black Bean Burger ($13.99) Everyone really enjoyed their meal! Great food, great service. Highly recommend!
Awesome experience, the food was absolutely delicious. We came here for my birthday and its hands down the best place we've been yet. Great service, super friendly and quick. A tiny bit loud but thats to be expected. We will definitely be coming back! Everything we tried was perfect!
Our first time was great! Our server Ryan M. was awesome and the food was awesomer! ???? We got beef ribs and the brisket meals and fritters and dry rub bone-in wings for starters. They have great portions and reasonable prices for the amount. This is going to be our go-to BBQ spot and it should be yours too if you’re in the Springfield area!
