Best KPortal Reviews

The Wortwell Bell is back in the best way possible.
Gone are all the cheap, tacky furnishings and plastic flowers installed by the previous incumbents, and we're back to where we should be; a traditional, atmospheric, warm and welcoming public house serving good beer.
Food isn't available yet, but apparently is coming shortly and it really sounds very positive; a focus on traditional pub food, sourced locally and cooked on the premise - will update this review as soon as this becomes available.
On tap are Madri, Becks and Aspalls cider; a couple of decent popular lagers and a nice local cider.
But the stars of the show are the ales brewed locally at Stow Fen Brewery by the landlord. Three beers have been on tap so far; Stock Bridge Best; a really good example of fine traditional best bitter, Broad Water Gold; a nice, slightly malty golden ale, and Angles Way Amber; a really great session ale that I could drink all evening (and have done). As well as all being great beers, these are less than £4 each; when was the last time you bought a round for 4 for less than £15?
All in all, a really great return for The Bell, once again run by someone who is enthusiastic and cares about how a pub should be including great beer and really looking forward to seeing how the food offering develops.
Lovely lunch when travelling only place doing food. Nice and hot The guy working that day was friendly and helpful.
Visited today for a quick drink. Good choice of drinks for adults and kids. Loved the outside seating. The menu looked good for food with a good range of roasts for a Sunday.
We stayed half an hour away and found this little gem en route. Bar staff were really pleasant, food was really good and pub felt really clean, spacious and well decorated. Would definitely recommend.
Great pub , very freindly staff , made to feel very welcome and food was 5 star and also very dog freindly
Pretty looking pub and that's where it ends really. Walked in and got stared at like we were aliens. The pleasant young lady behind the bar was polite and took our food order but didn't hear all four orders, (we were a party of four,) so I didn't get any food. Not really a biggy as mistakes happen so I shared a bit from the other three meals. The soup was tepid, the steak baguette was chewy and tasted like liver for some strange reason. The cottage pie was bland and obviously microwaved. It kind of made me laugh because there was a notice saying you might have a wait because it is home cooked food. The real killer was when I was finally offered my meal and it could be with me in five minutes!! Ding Ding!!! After the landlords reply I have to add that there wasn't a table check and I can review any time I please!
Prompted to write this review after seeing how defensive the owner is. Ate here a few weeks ago with my wife and mother and would not recommend or return! Food was bland and was not fresh despite any claims to the contrary. This was evident when the cook (certainly not a chef) made repeat visits to the freezer adjoining the back room only to then pass our table with the frozen food. Pies were more gravey than meat and pastry was burnt. We certainly did not clear the table and did complain to the server who said that he would raise it with the cook. No comment or apology was forthcoming however. Left after the main course without ordering puddings which is a first! Real shame as it is a lovely village and the serving staff were great. Far better fare available in the neighbouring town….
Excellent service and excellent food really good value for money still excellent service and excellent food
