Jens (weekend manager, I think) were top trumps. Pre booked a hard standing pitch. Spaces are small. It was very wet. Anyone on the grass would get stuck.
There's water, elsan and the toilets are apparently 24hr. There clean, mens thrown is a bit loose....
Was a fire when we arrived. Bars well stocked for choice. Cocktails for the ladies which looked good (2 for £10).
Food was very hot and tasty. Good choice for my vegi wife. Staff very attentative . Every last one of them checked up on us and no, we're not old people! Prices were what I would call quite reasonable. Big beer garden, sun was out, and so were everyone else. Nice to see a remote place so busy. As on the pubs description, plenty around, the big Pit is a must...and free!!!!!!!
Food was very good, staff very friendly. Beautiful views out of the conservatory eating area, they have a park in the grounds where children can play.
First time visit and it won't be my last. The food was outstanding with big portions. Highly recommend the Big Pit Burger.. Wow!! I wanted a dessert but couldn't fit one in!!
Staff were super friendly, helpful and just so pleasant.
Lovely views from the conservatory, small park for the kids and a great atmosphere.
Already planning another visit.. That's how good it was!
Parked overnight there £10 for the evening in my van. Bit muddy, but nothing terrible if parked right. Quiet evening, and they have toilets open throughout but not showers. ( what do you expect for a tenner )
Didn't sample the pub itself, unfortunately, but will be returning as theirs a burger with my name on it ????
We've driven past the sign for the whistle on numerous occasions and always made comments about going for a meal. We finally booked to celebrate two family birthdays, and i have to say it was great. Lovely food, great service, and i imagine the view in the conservatory is absolutely fantastic on a nice summer's evening. Will definitely return in the future
Very friendly staff and owners. Took our orders even though kitchen was about to close and we had some recommendations.
The food was excellent:
Fish and chips
Steak and Ale pie (the pastry was excellent)
Chicken breast with potatoes.
All very delicious.
Very dog friendly too ????
Would definitely come back if in the area!
Came here yesterday for food for the first time. I only ever actually came here once 7 years ago to see Father Christmas after a ride on the steam train.
The staff were really attentive and friendly. One of the servers "Ray" for a young guy had excellent customer service and is an asset to the team. Even though he thought our 1 year old was a boy at first. To be fair she was wearing navy blue so you can tell these days. We had a laugh to ourselves.
Anyway the food was absolutely stunning ???? the coleslaw was to die for. Best I've had . Chips nice and chunky. Presentation spot on. Price was also really good ???? we definitely will be back and using this as our go to place in future. Highly recommend.
Very nice pub great staff and the food was excellent - we also stayed at the campsite which was very good - building a new toilet/shower block not yet open but they leave pub toilets open all night for the campers. Take care in wet weather the bottom pitches to the left do get very wet although all have hard standings.
