A wonderful little shop with super items for gifts. Very friendly staff.
I'm new to the village and what a lovely welcome every time from all the staff of this gorgeous village shop. It's got everything you'd want, from the basics to local produce - including flowers and homemade cakes. It's always a pleasure to shop there.
I often stop off for their delicious freshly made sandwiches (really generous fillings!) and the home made apricot and chilli sausage rolls are amazing! They do a nice range of Italian deli goods too (pasta, cannoli). Friendly service.
THERE WAS ONLY ONE SLICE OF SCHOOL CAKE LEFT! we asked if they had any more and they said no! I thought it was all over but a lady with the voice of an angel said “if your around tomorrow we’ll have some made fresh”. We returned the next day and I’ll tell you this It was absolutely delicious! nice team of helpful staff with knowledge on the local area. Keep up the good work you guys if I pass through this village again I’d stop by just for the cake.
These guys are amazing. Locally grown products and flowers.
I popped in here for breakfast (range of hot breakfast foods, fresh tea and coffee) If you want lunch the rolls are very well filled and definitely worth what you pay.
One thing that amazed me is I can go to my local shops and supermarkets and not get skimmed milk in a small carton. This shop sells this product!.
The staff are very friendly and when you order a pastry or breakfast roll/sandwich they offer to heat it up for you.
Also at the beginning of Covid I would walk the canal from Thatcham to here to obtain flour for my local elderly residents. All I had to do was send a message (messenger, although not required as can ask instore) that I would be there at a time and they had what I wanted ready and waiting. This reduced the time u was in the shop and they were trusting to prepare this from the very first time I contacted them.

The staff in this shop are lovely, especially the lady who normally works in the afternoon. I have just moved to work just down the road at a telecoms company, and she has been very welcoming, getting to know me, which makes a nice change from the shops back from where I am.
Lovely little shop, practically a deli with the range of fresh offerings and fabulous coffee. Immaculately display, you can totally tell those running the shop care.
Do not believe reviews or opening hours! For what would claim to be ‘The Village Shop’ they are not very accommodating. There opening hours are also fictitious! What shop closes at 4 on a Friday. Dropping parcels off that took ages for me to drive to because of the crossings in the area. The owner said “ i’m back tomorrow’” obviously I won’t be doing that! If you want to shop is open for them and them alone then visit the shop!
