Lovely old pub. All the staff are very friendly. We have never had a bad meal, we have been coming here 20 years and the food and service has always been exactly the same, very good. Entertaining, interesting and very welcoming, well worth a visit.
We spent one week in Lynmouth and were staying near the Village in. The staff were very friendly and the bar has a great choice of drinks with some recommendations from the bar staff.
We also has food on a couple of occasions. Great quality for the price and huge portions. Also very dog friendly.
Would visit again when we are next in the area!
Looks like a lovely place traditional old pub menu looks good so we decided to eat here. We ordered two burgers it wasn’t particularly busy! we waited over an hour ,another table left because they had waited so long. We would have also left but we had already waited so long and were so hungry ! I asked for no onion rings on the burgers due to an allergy and one came with them . The chicken burger was nice and the beef burger was clearly frozen out of a box not homemade and was so dry. The guy on the bar didn’t seem bothered he didn’t apologise for the wait nor did he ask how our food was, he was more interested in watching the rugby on the tv really disappointed
Really big portions, however, there were three different things wrong with my meal. They did give a refund just under the value of that particular dish. My partner complained for me but it did feel like the staff would rather talk to him than me. Service was not fast including ordering. Felt a bit out of place. Decor needs more doing to it and it is a bit dirty inside (pulled curtains with mould stains facing customer seating). Saw many groups walk in and right out. Strange vibe inside that feels a little unwelcoming
Rude bar staff, owner has a loose dog running around. Filthy, clearly hasn't had a proper clean in a long while, no character, it's outdated and unwelcoming. Good size food portions but the chef clearly doesn't understand how to run a kitchen to stop cross contamination or rubbish from entering the dishes. Bar staff a bit pushy to order alcohol
Popped in for dinner, there is a sign saying you may / will wait a little longer for your food as everything is prepared freshly........ but it's worth it ????
Slow cooked beef brisket and bubble n squeak was awesome ????
Great trip to the Village Inn. Landlord very friendly and brought out a box of toys for the kids. Lovely drinks and excellent atmosphere. We'll be back!
Awful pub experience. Immediate bad smell when you walk through the door and gets even worse as you make your way in. Strong smell of toilet/piss. Booked for food on New Year’s Day but could barely stomach a 1/2 pint.
Shoved in the back corner with a bunch of storage boxes, table was filthy and chairs covered in food.
Barman left mid Guinness which did make me laugh though.
