Best KPortal Reviews
I’m giving 5 stars since the experience beat the expectations set by negative reviews here. Food is above average but not incredible. However, you are a few hundred feet from some of the most notable natural formations on earth!! The staff here is very nice, but you should be nice to them too! I can see why some reviews complain about “service”, but this use people have no understanding of the demands of customer service, especially in a tourist hot spot like this.
About the food: I got a traditional stew and tomato soup. Both were ok. The salads looked terrific. And burgers looked good too. Breakfast is ordinary holiday inn express style, but did the job!! Thank you to everyone that made my stay forever memorable.
Like most other people, I’ll have to add my input and say the food offerings here are dismal.
Thankfully, we only ate breakfast there which I can only describe as something I would imagine is served in a prison.
While I didn’t take a photo of said breakfast, I was particularly disturbed about the excessive use of single use items.
I dread to know where all this is going once used. For a place that’s business is on the land, scenery and environment all this plastic and disposable cutlery is sad. It also clearly shows cost cutting which is abundantly clear in the food offerings.
Do your selves a favour and go to the food trucks at the roundabout. We ate there and the food was far better, don’t subject yourself to this place.
Really delicious food and amazing views as you eat. Our waitress was very fast and friendly. I had the chilli and my daughter had fried chicken. I found the Navajo fried bread especially delicious. The food was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it for the view and atmosphere.
Came in to grab dinner since it was getting late and we had a long drive back. (FYI The sign at the restaurant says they only serve hotel guests from 7pm on. Luckily we were there prior to that time) When deciding what to get I looked around at the plates coming out of the kitchen. They looked sad. The “Alaskan” salmon was so pale it was almost white. The mashed potatoes looked worse than what we got at the school cafeteria. The cheese was not even melted on a grilled cheese sandwich. So, we opted for the ‘safer’ grilled chicken sandwich. The lettuce with it was really nice and fresh. The tomato was anemic. It only came with Mayo, which was in a little tube. The real bonus was that we asked for it on the Navajo bread, which was wonderful. Like a fluffy pita bread. The chicken itself was pretty good. Just a plain, thin cutlet. The side of seasonal vegetables were just a frozen blend of broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. With it came a little tub of butter if you wanted to add it. As other reviewers have said, there was a lot of ‘to go’ packages - butter, Mayo, etc. Also, they apparently cannot serve alcohol on the reservation (what our server told us) so beverage options limited, but they did have non-alcoholic beers. The servers were pleasant, service was good. The views of the valley and buttes were great.
Beautiful view of Monument Valley and food that does the job. The food was mediocre and service felt very rushed when the restaurant was not busy.
Would recommend for the convenience and the view.
Not too many dining options in the area. Since we stayed at the hotel, we took advantage of the free morning breakfast. It’s a very basic continental breakfast. Some of us brought our own packaged tuna, mustard/ Mayo to make egg salad, and our own coffee packets. The coffee served is very watery and the hot water dispenser spits out a lot of coffee grinds.
The dinner is sub par and pricey for what you get.
Our party said the chili was pretty decent. The chicken salad was sub par and the few chicken slices looked like French fries slivers. A few people in the party asked for salmon as well as other patrons but they were out. My fried chicken was over cooked and the meat was dry. I asked for broccoli as my sides and the server said it comes pre mixed. Unfortunately the mixed veggies was frozen mixed cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots but veggie scoop didn’t have any broccoli. I told the server and they said they would need to ask the manager to go talk to the kitchen. They did come out with a tiny portion of broccoli and it was quite mushy / over cooked and bland.
None of our food was served hot.
Since we only had 1 other dinner option nearby, we decided to eat here and lower expectations.
The view was good but couldn’t see at dinner. The meals were not so special but there were no choice of restaurants. However this is also my special memories.
Very expensive and awful food. We had dinner here during our stay at The View Hotel. The restaurant has a great view of Monument Valley, but that is the only plus. Our server was kind, but very confused and clumsy. The food very expensive at $23 for a portion of chili (which was more of a flavorless watery ground beef soup than chili) and $20 for a grilled chicken sandwich (which was a chicken patty on a sesame seed cold bun, once slice of tomato and onions with some French fries). My wife could not bear through her chili, so we ordered the chicken sandwich which was slightly less objectionable. Our bill came to $72 for two bowls of chili and one chicken sandwich. i would recommend bringing your own food (any lunch meat and bread would be better than anything this place on their menu and for a fraction of the cost). Don’t waste your money here. We are sorry we did, but never again.
