A gorgeous little place in the heart of Alton. The decor is exactly to my taste! Everything very quirky and lots to explore. Separate rooms upstairs to entertain your friends - very stylishly themed around David Bowie and Freddie Mercury! Tasteful wallpaper and artwork throughout. We're from Brighton and this place would fit right in! An extensive range of fairly priced cocktails too! We were only passing by and ordered a frappe and vegan cake which were both delicious. Staff were so friendly and engaging and helped us with our choices. Will definitely come back when we're next visiting :-)
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but don’t bother going here! I was so excited a new nice looking coffee shop had opened in Alton and was keen to try it.
My partner and I went in yesterday for a coffee and cake. When we entered we hadn’t even said anything, and the lady behind the till instantly said we could only order drinks and they weren’t doing food. Not a super warm welcome… but no problem. We could live without cake. We ordered a small coffee with soy milk and large coffee with soy milk which was £6 to take away. When the drinks came they were both in tiny takeaway cups, when my partner politely said he’d ordered a large he was bluntly told they were out of large takeaway cups… no offer to refund any money for the fact that we’d paid for a large. We left, a bit disgruntled and when I started to drink mine it had been made with cows milk which I tasted instantly. We had already got to our car and started driving away. So I had to throw my coffee away completely.
It’s a real shame, and a total waste of £6. I won’t be going back, they need more training on customer service and allergies.
Went for a wonderful afternoon tea here yesterday for my friends birthday. Staff were lovely & warm & friendly from the moment we walked through the door. Nothing was too much trouble & we were so well looked after, including an awesome bottle of champagne for the celebration! The decor here is very aesthetically pleasing, so fun & quirky! Even the toilet area upstairs was fun! We sat in the Bowie room, such a surprise to fondly reminisce watching The Labyrinth growing up???? What a great Saturday afternoon experience, we can’t wait to come back in an evening for tapas & cocktails.
Reading some of the other reviews I feel sad to see some quite negative comments, I hope this new business is well supported & goes the distance, let’s always be kind, these beautiful ladies did a tremendous job yesterday????????????????Thank u all at The Twisted Teacup☕️
Sorry to see the other less than glowing reviews on the Twisted Teacup. Went there today at 2pm and we had a very good breakfast sandwich and the tortilla chips with cheese sour cream & salsa was well up
to standard with others I’ve had. Drank tea so can’t comment on coffee. Seemed reasonably priced. It’s a nice position under the tree at the front. It’s seems a very small bar & food prep area so can’t be that easy to get stuff out, and I think they do everything fresh. Hope they prosper.
We decided to come for lunch because it was not busy. We were sat in the back garden and unfortunately I think it was a case of out of sight out of mind. It took approximately 30 minutes for the waiter to come and take our order and a further 20 minutes approximately for our sandwiches to arrive. To add insult to injury, they had just ran out of bacon due to serving customers who had arrived after us. When the hot chocolate arrived, one of them was stone cold . The waiter did kindly heat it back up for me.
To sum it up, the employees were extremely polite and hospitable however the wait time does put me off visiting again.
My colleagues and I have had lunch a number of times and it is great to see The Twisted Teacup go from strength to strength. They recently catered for a team meeting we held and have plenty of vegan options. Not only did they go above and beyond with the service the food was outstanding too! Great value for money and I could not recommend them highly enough. I would give more than 5* if I could!
Been in twice, once for breakfast and once for Tapas. Very happy on both occasions. Not the biggest Tapas fan in the world but loved it and have had my mind changed. Always loved an English breakfast and was very happy with it. Lovely setting and good food and service. Will be back.
My first visit to this establishment today... Will be the last!
Arrived and no Covid details discussed or taken. Was seated at the back of this establishment and had to walk through the building, noted the amount of items littering the front entrance for example a table with an old pair of smelly trainers on top of it!
We ordered two small hot drinks, this order took 20 minutes of waiting. I went to the counter and asked if the order was being made and was assured it was! Sat back down and still had to wait! Finally drinks came out.... Small cup of tea no saucer and no teaspoon! Had to request for a spoon, came out with a teaspoon wrapped in a napkin covered in tea stains! Paid the bill £5.40 for a small cup of tea and a small latte. Outrageous! The customer service was poor, unprofessional and extremely slow. I would not be recommending your business????
