What a beautiful building dating to 1850, hence the name, hence the fact that the smithy was next door. years old. Wow, can’t wait to see the inside as the porch, where I met the very nice straight talking owner sir John. No messing about with him if you have had two many drinks imbibed. He just through you over the wall in the smithy next door. Oops, no smithy next door, but some posh house apparently.
Do you think the owner, sir John, is 170years old too? I wonder, he seems very on the ball and so quick witted. Really nice, kind and respectful. Can’t wait til it opens up again. You think it has a four poster bed too, it is an Inn afterall? Or is there no room in the Inn? Well not at the moment anyway.

Very cosy and warm atmosphere. You feel like sitting at home in your living room. It's so enjoyable and John, the owner is such a nice and kind man. I will definitely come back soon!
New menu, great staff. Make sure you don't eat before you go, it's very rich!!
Bloody terrible....
8.95 for froven veg, oven chips and tasteless fish on a dirty plate, complained and was polite and owner didn't care. Ruined our day. Other two friends meals were awful aswell and complained to get same ressponse!

Small place, you'll miss it if you don't know it's there. Really friendly, comfy and cosy. On a cold snowy day good place to hole up.
Great little gem, perfectly placed in Brecon. Friendly owners and a fabulous room in the back for groups. I would recommend this space to anyone.
Had a rather pleasant pint with a very eccentric gentleman / owner. Felt like a was sitting in his old fashioned front room,
I absolutely love this old school pub,its like steping back 30 years when you walk through the door a timeless classic,good food great service
