We arrived at the Thatched Tavern on our Motorbike at 17:30 on Friday Eve, it was a very hot evening. We were instantly welcomed by the owners, who couldn't have been more helpful. They opened the gate to the garden to allow us to park the bike next to our log cabin, showed us around, provided us with bottled water and milk (tea, coffee, kettle supplied in the cabin) and informed us of places to visit the following morning as they don't currently serve food. We spent the evening at the Tavern for a friends’ retirement party and the whole experience was fantastic, great service, wonderful atmosphere & lovely setting.
Everyone here were helpful and genuinely nice people. We will definitely be returning. Thank you
Nice traditional pub atmosphere, no kids running around inside as has good play area for the ankle biters, dogs welcome, good place to grab a couple of beers and chat with the locals and maybe a bite to eat away from the hustle bustle. Lovely listed building, owned privately by landlord so giving a nice homely feel to the place. Selection of ales and wines as well as other commercial lagers, close enough to the beach and the village to provide a nice stop off at the end or beginning of your journey, yet far enough away to provide the peace and quiet of the beautiful surrounding fields. Worth a look in. ????
A lovely friendly pub with a excellent selection of beers, ales and wine. Beautiful views and a gorgeous building and you can now stay in the fab new cabins. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area -especially at sunset
Believe it's a Grade II Listed Building so lots of history. A few minutes walk from the centre of the village, worth it for the beers and lovely views out across the adjacent farm land.
Extremely disappointed. Friendly staff, great menu, lovely location but asking for a very rare rib eye and it come out medium and being more rump than ribeye. The owner came out saying that’s the best they can do so I maintained I wasn’t happy. He removed all our drinks, my partners halumi burger and told us to leave! We left extremely dissapointed and disgusted with his attitude and left with a bad taste. However, we had lunch at the old house at home which was awesome, the drifters in west wittering which gave us the perfect setting and changing our mind about a rude owner of the lamb. Extremely happy about leaving this review which I have never done before. Recommended to try elsewhere and awaiting our apology. Can’t wait to come back to the witterings and eating anywhere other than the lamb. The thatched tavern was a great place for a beer on the way home with friendly staff and lovely field for dogs and kids in a more rural setting.
As always. Love to visit this pub when in area. Martin the landlord always welcomes me back with a smile and handshake. Fantastic atmosphere and locals are all so friendly. Wish I lived in area as I woukdnt go anywhere else if did
Great publican with a lovely boozer. Made to feel very welcome and the fact he has RV and chalet onsite is a total bonus. Loved our first visit. Will deffo go back. Thanks
lovely pint of Doom Bar on a sunny afternoon in The Witterings. well worth taking the road between East & West to find this lovely thatched, well, tavern!. Good space for young kids to play outdoors too ad lots of climbing frames. hear they have events too, (they were having bouncy castle on the bank holidays) so may try the band or whatever is on next time. cheers
