Absolutely stunning location. The lady we dealt with was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. Room was lovely, few little bits could have done with sorting, but nothing that effected our stay. The food on the evening was outstanding, the breakfast was nice as well. My only complaint (personal preference) is that it was way to warm in the rooms, apart from that I cannot fault the place and would definitely return!
Absolutely fabulous!! Checked in last minute and couldn't be more helpful. Room was amazing and breakfast was sensational!! The lady running the place was first class and totally professional. We chose the upgraded room with jacuzzi bath and a view to die for!! If you are in the area just book in here!! We will be back!! Thank you so much ❤️
A lovely old country pub, even got a great character with the creeky floors. We was greeted by a lovely landlady and she helped us check in and showed us around. Our room was nice and a cottage feel to it. There was slight imperfections with decor which are in need of a desperate update with bathroom and bed. However the stay was comfortable and lovely and warm. The shower hose was not working properly and the air vent not working |But didn't ruin our stay. The girls who are there are so accommodating and so friendly made the stay even nicer. The food is amazing ???? a brilliant chef works there and not too expensive either. We would definately return. It's also great if you have a dog and want to go for long walks or cycling. |
I will start with the best things at the tenants arms and that was the evening meals. We stopped over two nights eat both times and have a lovely well cooked meals. The location is beautiful and quiet, the building it self is very nostalgic. The bar area was nice and cosy.|And now the not so good things, the breakfast was ok, we didn’t like the idea that you had to boil your own kettle for your tea pot, all hotels we’ve every stopped in they bring the tea pot out to you which is a better service. Very limited with cereal only 1 available, no fruit or yoghurt or any pastries not very forthcoming with extra toast.|The room, ‘Littondale’ was a large enough room but needs updating there was tea or coffee stains over the carpet, the windows were dirty, they are double insulated and they had cobwebs and dirt between. Only a bath in this room no standing shower, beware if you are disabled, my husband is and was unable to get into the bath has it was a large step up and into the bath. |The hotel needs updating and given a good clean.|My last word is that they only run on very very limited staff no one was around when we departed we thought it was bad customer service no thank you for our service the key was just left on the desk, very poor to be honest. No manners.
We was given a pet friendly room as we had a parrot with us. On entering the room, all we could smell was wet dog. The furniture was all scratched and there was muck on the bathroom towels they had provided. I went to reception to ask for a different room but they were fully booked. They insisted they would clean the room and change our towels. A guy came to the room with a vaccum cleaner.. Not sure how this would have got rid of the wet dog smell? My partner then checked the sheets.. I'm glad he did! They were beyond disgusting! Mattress was most likely older than me, stains, hairs and pubes on the mattress protector! Even the staff looked disgusted in it. The staff were helpful and apologied. I said I couldn't sleep on that bed and they offered me a refund without question. I think the lady was quite embarrassed! I would not recommend this place, they need to seriously give the hotel a good clean and a change of mattresses and bed sheets! We took the bus back to the hotel and we overheard locals making jokes about how bad the hotel was.. Now I understand why! The location is beautiful though!
The room we had was adequate, but no way up to the standard of a 'boutique hotel'. Old fashioned, shower mouldy and a terrible view over a roof. Incidentally the roof had a very noisy fan on it. There was a coffee machine but no coffee pods, a carafe and water glasses but no water and the tea bags and coffee sachets were appalling quality.|When we went down for dinner we were shown to a big empty room, and so we asked to move. We were then put in the dining room which was okay. My husband ordered prawn cocktail which came with too little sauce and, as no-one asked us what our starters were like, we couldn't ask for more. I had a 'bruschetta' with Wensleydale cheese. This was in fact cheese on toast, no tomatoes in sight. I'd ordered scampi and chips for main course as I was beginning to realise whoever was in the kitchen couldn't cook. The chips were very dark and tasted as if they'd been cooked in very old cooking oil, and the scampi was tasteless. My husband had the pie which was very average. It came with mashed potatoes which were fine, green beans and carrots. One of the carrots was okay but the other was undercooked. We called it a day after that and went back to the room even though it was New Year's eve.|Unbelievably things got worse the next morning. We arrived in the dining room at 9.29am for breakfast, only to be told by the member of staff that the kitchen was shut and we'd missed breakfast. She delivered this news with glee, possibly as a result of our complaint the previous evening. As we were walking away she said as an afterthought we could have coffee and toast. We accepted this but in the end we left the coffee as it was appalling, so we had some toast and juice. That just topped off a truly awful stay. Don't ever stay, don't waste your money.|
Great location, good food and staff helpful especially Sandra.|Bedroom was very nice with views.|Unfortunately the bathroom let it down. Broken tiles, chipped washbasin and missing glass shelf over the basin leaving 2 chrome arms sticking out. The shower over the bath was difficult to get a comfortable temperature and water squirted out at the joint with the bath taps. As we were the only guests we had to leave by a door that wouldn't open and had to wait 15 minutes when luckily the chef came through.|This is a lovely spot but the hotel needs a bit of TLC.
We had a wonderful stay here, helped by the fantastic team! Lovely food, especially delicious breakfast cooked to order. Our dog was also made very welcome. My husband celebrated his birthday while we were here and our daughter sent his card to the hotel, it arrived after we left though. The staff rang us to ask for a forwarding address, and that gives you an example of their service. Highly recommended.
