Would not recommend this restaurant for anyone with Gluten sensitivity, or really anyone who wants authentic Mexican food.
I went in for dinner last night, and asked the waitress what food is gluten free, and told her I have a gluten allergy. She said that she did not know and refer to what the menu said. According to their menu, they use an asterisk to mark which meals are gluten free. Included in what they marked as gluten free was their chips and salsa and enchilada. And it's typical for enchiladas to be gluten free.
I ordered the enchilada, and ate about half of the dish. 30 minutes later I was vomiting for several hours. The dish definitely used a flour tortilla and not a traditional masa corn tortillas. We called the restaurant and told them, and they said it could have been the chips and salsa (which are also marked as gluten free on the menu). Out of the 3 of us eating there, no one enjoyed their meal.
Unexpectedly good. Great breakfast burritos at a surprisingly low price. Especially for a place in government camp. Service was good and the workers were friendly and fun to talk to. It;s a fun place to stop for a bite and relax after ski session. Coffee was good too.
My family stopped in on a whim to try this place. The outdoor seating is wonderful. We ordered the special which was Mahi Mahi tacos with beans and rice. Our son ordered a beef and bean burrito. The service was great! The food was full of flavor and the only set back was we felt it was a little on the spicy side. Yes, I believe in spice! But I also feel like the hotness was just a little too much. We still had a great time and would consider going back and trying something different. GF options. Kids menu was great
Who would have thought that you could find an excellent Mexican restaurant in this tiny town? We stopped in after visiting Mt Hood. Well worth the wait. Excellent service, great drinks, and tasty food. This is coming from someone from El Paso. They had menu items with Hatch Chile, that's just up the road from El Paso. Anyway. The tacos and enchiladas were great, the salsa and tostadas (they call them chips) were excellent. A must stop place after a day of sight seeing or hiking.
C+ tacos with F tier beans and rice. Need I say more? The chips and salsa are really good, outshines the main course. I would go with the burrito if anything that's good!
Quiet evening with a delicious Smothered Veggie Burrito & a Mezcal with soda.
Homemade sauces & salsa ???? thanks Taco Shoppe!
This will definitely be one of my favorites from now on after a day snowboarding! The beef burrito was everything I wanted it to be and was so big I took half of it home. The chips and queso were probably the best I have had in Oregon. Their chips are fresh! I wouldn’t recommend the fish tacos ???? The service was top notch. I recommend their hot apple cider
Lovely spot, solid offerings. But Judy was more visibly intoxicated than any bartender I have ever seen. Judy should not scoop chips with bare hands after sneezing behind the bar at least six times, and ideally would at least notice having spilled salsa on the ground during her table bussing twirl.
All part of the charm, can’t wait to come back.
