What a beautiful piece of history. A little treat of a hidden gem. Lovely aesthetic and charm like something out of a Victorian storybook. It was a fun experience to see it for myself after having read about it. I don't think I'd ever seen a suspension walking bridge before, but it was cute... a miniature version of something that is usually too large to get to experience so intimately. It's full of old-fashioned life as you walk across. You can feel its subtle movements and listen to its adorable squeaking in response to your footsteps as you make your way across.
Quaint Bridge that is the essence of practically all Milfordian's childhoods. It was so nostalgic visiting again today.
Discovered this bridge ???? on a tour with the Milford Historical Society. It is to be refurbished due to its age. The paint has to removed by a company that deals with lead paint removal. The bridge is to be dismantled, upgraded and repainted. Nice view from the bridge. It does wobble a bit.
This bridge has it's own Wikipedia page ????. It is the second ???? bridge to be installed over the river.
It's also called the Suspension Bridge on Google Maps as well.
Built in 1889 this is definitely a cool Footbridge. It bounces and swings a little. There is no real parking near by so I ended up parking at the end of someone's driveway.
Nice views from a Small Bridge which shares it's Architecture with the Brooklyn Bridge. Bonus with the Foliage...
Classic Victorian "Swinging Bridge" crossing the Souhegan River
Great Historical site. The swinging bridge of Milford NH.
It's an old bridge built to get mill workers across the river some 100 plus years ago. A German company made the bridge, I believe. But anyway, it's a suspension bridge, hence the "swinging." When I was in like first or second grade the school masters marched us down there like it was pink Floyd the wall. We jumped up and down in tandem screaming we don't want your education. Best day ever.
