This is an excellent place to get a filling lunch! We had; an all day breakfast, a steak and ale pie, a mince beef and onion pie and a battered cod and chips. They did not disappoint. They have recently put up their Halloween decorations that look amazing which is a sign that they put in a lot of work! The staff are great and most definitely friendly! I would very much recommend you come here.
Had a gorgeous Valentine meal here last night. I loved the Lobster tails and the cheesecake was divine! Others had the steak sharing platter which was very filling I'm told, cooked to perfection and apple pie and custard!????????????????????
Visited here for an early dinner, we had a price is wight/wightfibre deal...i must say the food was absolutely lovely, a great attention to detail with every dish, the portions were fantastic and each meal was full of flavour.
Its definitely 10/10 for food...
The staff were all very friendly and this made the whole experience an excellent all round visit so i would give them 10/10 as well.
My own personal take on the venue, the dining area could do with more character, im not going to say modernising as its an old country pub, it just felt like things were missing, shelve above stairs down to lower dining-empty, a curtain pole without curtains and personally id change all tables to match to give it a more dining area feel.
The establishment is lovely and clean and im sure the owners will put there personal stamp on it....from us its a massive well done, i would strongly reccomend anyone to visit here day or night.....we definitely will be back
Went there for mother's day. Had a roast ????. Fabulous as all homemade. Didn't feel rushed. Very relaxed atmosphere. Dogs welcome. Will definitely be returning.
Delighted to find The Sun, the food was delicious at very reasonable prices and the staff really friendly. We loved the train circling the bar up high in the ceiling.
Ate here with my partner & her mum....ale was superb ....Theakstons mild being a rare treat & in perfect condition. My rump steak was perfect, the chicken & mushroom pie was excellent, as was the spinach & lentil burger( chips,onion rings & veg)....but the piece de resistance was the strawberry cheesecake served with cream. The owners & staff were great....& the model gauge railway running during dinner around the walls was a delight....whole experience was quaint, bordering on surreal....we loved it & thoroughly recommend it to all who might visit.
Great little country pub serving straightforward pub fare at very reasonable prices. The daily specials are particularly interesting. The food is better than the average boil in a bag you find in some chain pubs. Very helpful friendly staff.
I had the pleasure of playing a solo acoustic gig at The Sun Inn at Calbourne last night, and I was really impressed with the venue ????! The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, the interiors were clean and tidy, the food and drinks ????️???? were great and good value for money.
The staff ???? were attentive and friendly, and they went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed, even offering a complete sound system ???? (although I had brought my own). My music sounded really good in the heart of the pub ????.
I would definitely recommend ???? The Sun Inn to anyone looking for a great place to eat, drink, and listen to live music ????. The Saturday night live music sessions from 7-9pm are a particular highlight, as they are starting to attract a great crowd ????. My friends ???? loved it!
