A cosy village pub that does excellent meals.
Potion sizes are very generous, especially the nachos starter which could easily be shared between two people.
The menu is mainly standard pub grub dishes. I really enjoyed my venison casserole.
Service was excellent.
Only area of improvement would be a larger selection of beers.

The hotel is well furnished with various different eating areas. The menu was varied with an extensive choice. Food was first class and the servings were large but a small helping was also available. Service was very good despite hotel being very busy. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a function or a meal.

Lunch for three at the Strathmore Arms. Cosy dining room, welcoming staff, and a menu that has something for everyone. Staff were helpful and friendly, food was good and plentiful. I had the chicken salad; lots of chicken, salad, coleslaw, and served with good portion of tasty chips. The fish and chips was also very good. Excellent lunch, excellent restaurant.
This was our first experience of dining out since December 2020 with two of our friends. And this restaurant was a disappointment. It had been recommended by someone who had last been there before the lockdowns. Maybe it just hasn't got its act together again yet.
Our waiter was indifferent, not really interested in whether we liked something or not, white wine served at room temperature, the meat in the steak pie was stringy, the roast lamb was an unrecognisable pile of meat, totally smothered in gravy on a serving of mash. The "vegetable" was a dried out cauliflower floret. Nothing resembling the photo on the website.
Definitely NOT impressed with this place. I've given it 2 stars because the decor was nice and Glamis is lovely.
I spent two nights here very recently, the 12th and 13th of Jan 2015. A very nice and relaxing atmosphere with helpful and pleasant staff. The food was exceptional and they were very accommodating even though I turned up a little too late on the Monday night, they still fired up the kitchen and made me a lovely fish and chip supper. I even rather embarrassingly dropped some food on the floor (I never do this!), the lovely staff there made no fuss of it whatsoever. Highly recommended. Nice rooms, food and staff. Couldn't ask for more!
