Absolutely brilliant since change over, food amazing and prices good too!
While it has the atmosphere of an old-manny's pub, it is welcoming and the staff are friendly. The food is not the best but I've paid more for worse. It's not a gastro-pub by any regards, but I mean that in a good way. I was reminded pleasantly of the sort of pubs that I used to have lunch in, in my youth. My wife had Scampi and chips, which she said was good. My son and I had burgers, my son with Mac & Cheese, myself with Bacon. The buns were hard and seemed stale. But everything else was good. About two thirds of what I'd expect to pay in a more upmarket place. It was nice and I recommend it.
Great food. Staff very attentive. Have had a couple of meals there now and can't fault any.
My sister & I had a lovely lunch today. My Chicken Madras was SO good & my sister enjoyed her Steak Pie. Lovely, friendly welcoming staff & owner. Prices are very reasonable. We feel happy to recommend The Stanes.
Our first visit since refurbishment. Doesn't look much from the outside but very pleasant inside, staff were friendly and outgoing, food was freshly prepared, well portioned and tasted great (chef obviously has pride in his work). We stayed for the quiz which was a good laugh (and not just because we won ;-)).
Very good food, very good beer. Live 20 miles from Tadcaster, Yorkshire, travelled up to visit relatives, best pint of John Smith's I've had for years, 'nough said.
Food was excellent, prices were brilliant, service was top notch. Great atmosphere for a family lunch. More than happy to return.
