First time visiting The Smoke House and we were hugely impressed. From walking in the door, to being seated, ordering drinks and being served our food - the staff were exceptional. We both ordered ribs….and were defeated by the huge rack. Fries - awesome, mac’’n’cheese - great, onion rings - immense! Wonderful staff and great value for money. Will definitely be back!
A fantastic eatery hidden away in Banham. Visited on a Saturday night and even though it was busy, there was a table available for us.
It's quite a small place, but has a big atmosphere. Found the staff to be helpful and the food was brilliant. Great value for money too. I feel I will be visiting here often as I live locally.
Not been before. Warm welcome from staff, showed to our seats. Fabulous food, I had the T-bone steak, perfectly cooked and so tender. Diner type establishment and the welcome from staff and landlord made us feel we were almost visiting a friends home. Not over the top but just right. Will be revisiting as saw some of the other dishes coming out and need to try them hmmm.
An underwhelming experience!
I was invited to go by a friend as he wanted to try it before booking for a larger family celebration.
On arrival we were shown to a table that we didn’t feel would be comfortable and were then placed on a table in the middle of the restaurant. A drinks order was taken but took over fifteen minutes to deliver.
The floor staff didn’t seem happy, and I had to make three requests during the meal to get a 2nd beer.
There are too many tables in the place, a loose American diner scheme is lost by how busy the floor is. Sitting on a central table we had to either lean over our table to allow people to walk though or be barged or have our chairs kicked.
I ordered a Southern Chicken Burger. What was served was surprisingly small for the price tag of £16.95. The piece of chicken certainly wasn’t a fillet, more like a piece from a supermarket bag of frozen chicken bits.
My friends was not much better.
The ambient noise level is loud and the string of LED lights that run back and forth across the ceiling flashed in a manic fashion. Not sure why they are necessary?
We asked for our bill and were offered an iPad with a figure on it asking if I wanted to leave a gratuity. I asked for a breakdown of the invoice as I was curious to see what we’d been charged for the sprinkling of Cajun dust on the chips. £2.50 for the ‘upgrade!’.
The iPad developed a fault apparently and I was told that a break down could not be given. We then waited a while whilst the technical error was resolved. We went to the bar area whilst we were waiting and tried to buy another drink but the barman did everything but make eye contact with us! Looking at the floor for a lot of the time. A young lady bought a card machine again without a breakdown and said we could not be given one.
The evening was truly underwhelming!
Needless to say my friends family will not be using this restaurant. I hope the owners take some of these points on board as the idea is a good one but the execution poor. Trying to squeeze as many covers in as possible I can understand but it’s at the expense of customer comfort. The floor staff just looked plainly unhappy or disinterested. A check to see how things were would have resulted in additional drink sales.
Attached is a picture of the burger and fries. Smaller than your average McDonalds or Burger King and over twice the price. Prices like these need the experience to be so much better.

Thank you for your apology. The table first offered was a small bar cocktail table with tall bar seats. Not that comfortable for two grown men.
We believed we had ordered upgrade fries, had we seen a written break down of the bill, we would have seen that we were not charged extra.
I was not aware it was deal night? Again, if this had have been shown on a receipt, I would have appreciated it.
if you have unreliable internet the use a different reliable system? I cant see how you would need the internet to tell me what you were invoicing me for? The problem wasn't the card payment, it was understanding what we had or hadn't paid for.
I have seen your positive reviews, I have reviewed you based on my experience. You may wish to consider what I have mentioned or you may choose to ignore. Your choice.

The American diner feel came through quite well. Came for lunch today, had the pork belly burnt ends and brisket platter. I'd say that both were delicious, would've liked if they had own house BBQ sauce instead of a packet one. Would've been that bit more amazing. The mini-mac and cheese was to die for. Decently priced for the portion size.
Best BBQ ribs and brisket I've had in my 23 years living in the UK ????????. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The owner was glad to hear suggestions to the menu. I have plans to go there this weekend already. ????????
A culinary delight. The food is so yummy. The ribs and brisket are so tender. Above all else, the burnt ends starter is a must. The food portions are huge. The place is decorated like an American 50s diner. It is so cute. The servers are really nice and helpful. Reservations are definitely recommended. 10/10 we’ll be going back.
Meal for 7 the other weekend (Saturday early evening booking). The food was delicious, nice atmosphere and the waiting staff were lovely, but they clearly needed more staff both front of house and kitchen staff . We were there just over 3 hours! We ordered and waited over an hour for our food to arrive (not ideal with 3 hungry youngsters, not to mention us adults!!) and only after we had asked where it was. We watched other tables arrive, order, eat and go! When our food arrived, it took a while to come out from the kitchen and then one of the children’s meals was missing its coleslaw! Which again took a while to arrive after we asked. It had got incredibly busy. We did get an apology and the food was definitely delicious but a very long wait!!
