**Review: The Ship Inn Newington**
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Located in the heart of Newington, The Ship Inn offers a traditional Sunday lunch experience that is both satisfying and easy on the pocket. For just £11 per person, guests can indulge in a medium-sized carvery that caters to those longing for a hearty, classic meal.
The ambiance of the inn strikes a balance between rustic and cozy, giving diners the feel of a genuine British pub. The warm wood interiors paired with classic pub decor create a welcoming environment, ideal for families and groups of friends looking to catch up over a meal.
The carvery itself, while satisfactory, does not particularly stand out. The meats, veggies, and accompaniments are all competently prepared. However, given the modest price point, one should manage their expectations accordingly. It's a decent meal for the price, but gourmet seekers might find it somewhat ordinary.
Service at The Ship Inn is adequate. The staff is friendly enough, though there can be moments of delay during peak hours, which is expected in most establishments.
In conclusion, The Ship Inn Newington offers a good value Sunday lunch, especially for those on a budget. While it may not be the most remarkable carvery you'll ever have, it's a solid choice for a comforting Sunday roast without breaking the bank.
A fabulous little pub. Lovely owners, friendly staff and customers, the food is excellent and cooked to perfection, good sized portions, lots of choices on the menu.
We had the carvery on Sunday (which was outstanding) and liked it so much we went back on Monday for lunch!
The chicken, garlic and mushroom melt is beautiful, the liver bacon and onions, my husband said was just like his Nan made.
There's a big play area for the children to run around in, bar games and nice sized beer garden, dogs are welcome and there's parking too
We told other family members how good this pub was and they are going to pay The Ship a visit.
We will definitely be back again. So glad we found you!
Best pub food and atmosphere for miles!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5/5
P. S. Forgot to add, the halloween game you are doing for the kids is fab and decorations are amazing.. Love them!! ????????????????‍♂️????
Wonderful family owned pub serving delicious hot food - amazing play area for the kids and the landlady was one of the nicest people we have ever met ???????? will definitely come again! Dog friendly too which was a bonus, provided water for the doggos too (thanks!)
Cracking dog-friendly pub with friendly staff and great food. The carvery is super fresh and really tasty although you’d need a massive appetite to tackle a large plate!
I ordered the surf and turf and the steak medium. I had to bend the fork back into place 3 times and remove the steak from my mouth, it was by far the worst steak I’ve ever had. Avoid. This was the cut of the meat. The lass behind the bar had enough on clearing 3 tables let alone me moaning. And the other plates were cleared due to me eating it all.
Lovely little pub, extensive menu, polite welcoming staff, food portions are very generous & the food we were served was lovely although the beef on the carvery was a little tough, my steak was cooked to perfection, will certainly be returning
havent been here for several years dont know why but food was fantastic from home made soups to mains and desserts stay were really good nothing too much trouble for them . would recommed this to anyone. the soup was leek and potatoe i personnaly dont care for soup but tried husbands and was really good i would order it myself as that good in future.
Really nice pub and really nice staff. We went for a carvery here and really enjoyed the food and was very generous with the meat portions. Food and drinks prices were relatively cheap and can eat inside or out side also a big park for kids to play
