Was very disappointed. Seated in the back corner like baby on dirty dancing. It was so loud in the back room. I asked the waitress about the fish and what she explained was fresh, beer battered cod. When it came out, it was triangle shaped pieces out a frozen box. The coleslaw was inedible and the $6 up charge for the garlic fries was ridiculous. It was only $2 up charge on other dinners for the same fries. My fries were green by the way. Wife got the Mediterranean salad and added chicken for a $4 dollar up charge. It was literally 4 dice sized pieces of chicken cut in half so she got 8 halves. Halfway through our meal a couple sat at a lower table and the same waitress told them of a sirloin special. Sure wish she would have informed us of this. I was going to have the Philly sandwich, but something tells me it would have been grosser then the fish. It’s definitely a dive, only a local hole that no one knows any better outside of the town on better eats. Glad we were just passing through. We will never be back.
Not family friendly.
We were there for over an hour and a half and my baby was done. The waitress, although very sweet, waited 20 minutes after taking our dirty plates to bring out our check. When his patience wore out, I was left holding a wild baby in a tantrum and a very wet diaper.
When I asked about a changing table, the bartender and owner told me to change his diaper on the dirty bathroom floor. That’s a hard pass. My chiropractor says I have the back of a woman in her 60’s. Would you tell a woman in her 60’s to hunch over on the dirty floor to change a diaper? No? What about all those lovely farm animals people in the community raise? They all poop and you all walk in it. Plus any bathroom men use will have urine on the floor. Hunching over in the car hurts my back more. No, I did what any reasonable person would do in my situation. I found a corner, pulled 2 chairs together, threw a mat down, and took care of it on my knees, all while the owner glared at me without a word.
No, the owners saved their words for Facebook. Blasted me with false information to be judged by a jury of my peers. How rude and cowardly.
Maybe be more respectful of the limitations of young families and offer a changing station if you don’t like it. Thrift and consignment stores often have them reasonably priced.
I have never been so disrespected in an establishment. They owe me a public apology.
Really good garlic fries. Definitely check your to-go orders to make sure you get your sauces. I hope they never change the garlic fries since they have the best! The ranch and garlic aoli sauces rock. I do think the prices on some items are bit steep, but the double patty burger they have is pretty good and that's what I would recommend besides the fries.
It was a bit of an awkward first time experience, we were a little lost walking in and our server was hasty and by-the-book so we felt rushed out of there (I’m sure we showed up right before it’s supposed to get busy for them) but the atmosphere and food was amazing and I’d like to go again. Unfortunately my friend left their card in the payment slip and they were unexpectedly closed the next day when we went to retrieve it. An employee showed up to work their shift and was also confused as to why the restaurant was closed but wasn’t getting a reply from her boss at that moment. Hope everything is okay with them we were a little worried what happened but hope to try them again in the future!
We have been traveling around the Northern Idaho area for a few days, and found ourselves in Bonners Ferry. We made our way to old town, and started walking the streets. We passed several restaurants, but hunger got the best of me, so we came into the Rusty Moose. I ordered the balsamic blue cheese burger and my wife ordered the Greek steak wrap. We are beyond pleasantly surprised and are more like quite impressed by the quality of the food. In my opinion, it is more of gourmet than Tavern/hub food. I don’t know who the chef is, but my compliments to him or her! Now I am off to get Chocolate chip cookie dough from their ice cream freezer…
We are just traveling through town and stopped here. The bartender was very nice and it seems like a family-owned bar since the 1940s. He said that location has been a bar for 122 years. Apparently the big secret of the bar is a wine cellar in the basement and if you ask the bartender about it he may let in on the secret.
The service was friendly. The food came quickly and was delicious. We got the blta chicken wrap with garlic fries and the The big dan burger with regular fries. Thank you for a great lunch!
We ate there twice. Both times the food and service was excellent. Friendly people. Try the pizza it was sooooo good!
