Partner and myself had a meal here on Saturday night, Both had the Haddock and chips, absolutely fantastic, probably the best I've had in at least 10 yes, service was first class, couldn't fault anything to be fair, after I had my sticky toffee pudding we both left stuffed. A great experience on our doorstep. I look forward to returning....would recommend to everyone. Thanks
We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The service is always speedy and friendly. |Our most recent visit was business as usual. Good quality food and good portion sizes. The whisky sauce with the Royal Highland Steak was beautiful as was the haggis topping. Several of us had the Pate and oatcakes which was very tasty too with generous portion size. |The very minor point I would raise is, the chips on the children's meal came out with salt all over them. We try not to give our kids additional salt for obvious reasons. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she said all the chips came with salt on them, but she would be happy to change them. The new meal came out very quickly without salted chips.
Was on an driving holiday and Keith was our first overnighter. We were looking for a good pub feed and we found it. Very basic pub and whilst it wasn't a busy night the locals made us feel very welcome and we had a few laughs with them. I had the feeling they don't leave this place. The meals were fine and we left the pub feeling well fed and genuinely happy that we encountered the Scottish hospitality we had heard about.
Went here today for lunch ????. We sat in the cosy bar area .. The service was excellent. As for the food it was absolutely yummy ???? I would highly recommend this Bar-Restaurant -Hotel..Will definitely be back. Keith is a great place, very friendly with some lovely walks ????♀️ ????..
I stayed at The Royal Hotel while attending the Keith TMSA. It is located just a 10 minute walk from the station on the corner of the main road. The welcome was warm and I was taken up to my room and explained everything on the way. It's a very old fashioned Victorian hotel, which had plenty of character to it. The room was a good size with En-suite toilet and shower. ||I had a meal downstairs in the bar which has an extensive menu and plenty of seating. The food was tasty and fresh. It provides a nice alternative to the restaurant up the stairs (which also had a nice menu), ||I had two little disappointments however,||1) breakfast wasn't explained other than that it was included in the price of the room. I went down and was seated almost immediately but the waitress just walked off, there was no menus about but eventually I noticed (I'm partially sighted) there was a table on the other side of the room which had cereals, fruit and juices so I went and helped myself. No sooner had i returned to the table and a huge plate of every possible cooked item (and toast) was placed in front of me. The food was good but I don't eat everything so felt a but disappointed to be not given a choice of what I would like and have food wasted. ||2) I went to check out at reception and had been told my room had already been paid for (unknown to me at the time of booking).||Despite this I look forward to returning knowing what to expect again.
Ok here we go. This review is being written by me but it was infact my husband, son and work colleague that had the misfortune to have to stay in this tierd and old hotel. The evening meal was really quite good but if you are looking for a hearty breakfast then dont even step inside this hotel. We got up at around 7am to head down for breakfast. There was 2 other workmen already seated and i asked whens breakfast was and was told this is it. When we checked in no one told us we wouldnt be able to get a cooked breakfast. Shocking when we were off to do a days hard graft. So the breakfast consisted of rice krispies, make your own toast or croissants tea and coffee. There was no butter left and no one to ask if we could get more. Not really the kind of breakfast you want on a cold morning heading out to install windows. Will be telling my company not too book us into this hotel ever again. We have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years but this is up there with the poorest. Sorry but true.
My wife and I popped in to this hotel whilst visiting Keith for a spot of lunch and were somewhat surprised to find ourselves the only customers in the bar on a Saturday lunchtime. We both selected the tagliatelle with a red pepper & tomato sauce accompanied by two pieces of garlic bread and were delighted with our choice. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was rich and really tasty. In fact we enjoyed it so much we asked the barman to convey 'thanks and well done' to the chef. ||We were there for about an hour and by the time we left there were only 2 other customers in the bar. Where does everyone in Keith go to on a Saturday lunchtime? They are certainly missing a treat because the Royal has a well run bar, a friendly barman and delicious food. Go on give it a try and don't be put off by the slightly drab exterior to the building; it is nice and cosy in the bar.
My partner and I stayed here along with a few other people to attend a local wedding. The outside doesn't look very good from the road and parking is very limited in the hotel car park. That being said there is plenty of on street parking or local free public parking areas. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and had the comfiest bed I have slept in for ages. The only downfall was the shower, it was an electric shower and it was a bit random with the temperature. The breakfast was lovely, a freshly prepared cooked breakfast and had a choice of a selection of cereals, yoghurt and fresh juices. Tea and coffee was made for you and toast was plentiful. All staff we dealt with were lovely and I would recommend the hotel to people staying in the area.
