Jack & Ashley have just taken over the pub, they where very welcoming and the pub has such a warming feeling. Can't wait until they get the rooms to stay sorted as we will certainly booking. Especially if Ashley pursuades Jack to get a hot tub for the Annex cottage to rent.||Thank you we will be back soon||Carl, Anita and family
Visited January 24. Reopened under new owners on Xmas eve. Drinks only at the moment but food to follow shortly (once the leaky roof repairs are finished!). Really nice couple and a lovely pub. Deserves to do well as the area needs another pub. Very dog friendly. Pop in and show your support.
Had a group of 8, all had a pie or roast and we loved the food! The espresso machine didn’t work when we were there so we didn’t have any unfortunately
It’s a dog friendly place and there were a few dogs about
Good parking space which was great
Bit confused about the pies and the fact that they come with mash potato but you can change them to fries? Wasn’t that clear on the menu
Fantastic food and lovely service from Lily and Hannah! We were staying close enough to walk and it is a steep slope but so worth the effort! Steak pie was full of meat and gravy, sausages delicious and the duck leg and veg left only the bones! |Glad we booked as even a Tuesday evening was very busy and we would not have got a table at 7pm! |Wishing this pub a good recovery and well done on keeping a small but excellent choices menu- food arrived quickly too!
We visited hoping for a hearty meal and a few drinks. We were very well catered for. Despite the kitchen being closed on the night we went, we were served a delicious 'poorman's' cassoulet and crusty bread. Also enjoyed a few lovely pints next to the fire. Thank you very much for having us!
Lovely tasting well prepared food. Confit Duck very good. Special Burger excellent. Service friendly and attentive. Charlotte and Bert were great, coming outside to let us know food was ready and calling multiple taxi firms to get us home safely. Thanks!!!
After a rainy day walking in the lakes it was just what we needed to warm up in front of a log fire. The food was excellent (especially the steak pie) and included a good selection of vegetarian options, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We would definitely come back when visiting the lakes again.
We were led to this place by a sign on the side of the road. A great find. The food was cooked to high standard and the ingredients are very fresh. My steak was delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his lamb shank. My son ordered the Cumberland sausage, which he polished off with no help. My daughteris liked her fish and chips. Food sat comfortably in our stomach. Pets and kids friendly. Staff were very friendly. The price is reasonable.
