I can't blame the service....they're serving a "pre-mixed" product. But to charge $9 for a long Island, then serve me a pitcher of sugary water, 0% ABV? Simply unacceptable.
Edit/message to owner: thanks for assuring me with your "internal review". If you really cared you'd offer me a refund ???? Until then we won't be coming back!
The Riv has one of the most inviting and welcoming environments of any bar in east lansing. All the staff show the upmost respect for all of their customers. My only issue is the other day a group of women were being very aggressive towards the DJ and calling him names because they wouldn't play some rapper named Tee Grizzley. They then proceeded to argue with staff and call them words that I do not feel comfortable typing out. Security promptly removed them from the bar which made everyone feel much safer as they were getting very aggressive and confrontational. I will definitely be coming back!
I asked the DJ to play TGrizzley. The dj said he didn’t have it. And I asked what does he mean he doesn’t have it. He said he doesn’t have it. He ran to the bar. The bartenders said I had to leave. I left peacefully. As I’m walking out the door I hear the security giggling asking if I’m a boy or a girl. So I come back in and ask what my sexuality matters and nobody wanted to answer who said it. They said they would call the police when I said nothing to get the police called. The RIV bouncers are homophobic and I will never be back. I felt so uncomfortable because of their laughing. What does my sexuality matter?
I wish I could leave less than a 0. Several body guards threatened to FIGHT ME and beat me up even though I did nothing. Their own friends had to hold them back from beating on a 125lb 5’5 girl … I also didn’t give them any trouble when my friend was asked to leave. I left with 0 issues and was still threatened with psychical assault!!Dont go here :)
Security man tried to punch my female customer in the face and was fighting to assault a woman who was posing no threat… intensely unprofessional and embarrassing. terrible ownership. 0/10
My friend arrived less than 10 minutes before me, and she paid the cover for me to get in. When I showed my ID and said my friend paid my cover, I was told that's not how it works. I asked for my ID back and was told I wouldn't get it back unless I paid $5 or left. When my friend came out to explain the situation, the bouncer put both of his hands on her and tried to push her out of ther bar even after she told him she had stuff inside and would call the police. This bouncer who was collecting money took his position to his head. He was unbelievable rude and aggressive toward us even though we had paid the cover and were both over 21 and made no threats towards him. After standing outside in the cold, management finally let me in, but this was unacceptable and a violation of my rights to without my ID only because I said I would not immediately leave. He is a shame to this establishment and this needs to be addressed. A bouncer who unprovoked puts his hands on a patron, should not still have a job. Please do better.
Long time customer here. My friend and I come by the other night to find out we can't have simple small bags?? We were turned away because we had no place to put them. I'm genuinely confused why security can't just do their job and check the bags. Zero stars from me due to this new absurd policy.
I was at this bar on st pattys and the bouncers were horrible. A 350lbs man was getting in my 21 y/o female friends face and calling her names because he was blacked out. The bouncers did NOTHING to make us feel safe. They kicked us out and laughed at us WITH the fat guy. NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR WOMEN!!!
