It was red bean Monday, and I had not cooked. So, my daughter and I stopped by to grab some from this restaurant. It was very reasonably priced for a large red bean. The beans were well seasoned without being salty. Plus, we were able to eat dinner for 2 nights! We will be back.
Since Hurricane Katrina I've been in Atlanta but every time I go back home to New Orleans I have to stop to get some gumbo from the Real Pie Man. There is no other that compares. Everything else they serve is good too especially the pasta.
Stop in today around 11:30am, was going to order a few sweet potato pies ????. But could not get anyone to take my order, best part is there was know customers in the store but me... This old man came out from the back look at me and took a phone order and disappeared it the back, I waited a few more minutes and he didn't come back out. So I left. What a waste of time. I guess they don't need my business.
Hey Pie Man, I’ve been living in Dallas for some time now but I had to come show love because you used to come to my hair salon all the way in the East every Saturday at 11am sharp selling us your pies and gumbo and red beans, it was absolutely delicious and some of my best memories! Glad to see you still thriving and selling your delicious food to the city!!!
I Stopped by the Black Owned business early one evening around 4ish was ordering for my family (3) who i was popping over to visit i had never been here but have heard about this place (some good & bad) again i keep it real on my reviews. I ordered a variety of things catfish....red beans and rice...porkchops...wings...fries...mac & cheese...
I don't have anything negative to say other than the food could use a little jazzing up( kick,zing) something but I do understand the cooks are older & they have an older crowd. Now for the positive THE BEANS AND RICE ARE UNDEFEATED!!???????????????? SWEET POTATO ???? ???????????????? AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWESOME I MEAN AWESOME!!

We had the catfish with stewed okra, yakamein, and peach cobbler. The catfish was hot and fresh. The stewed okra was super! Never had better! Also love the peach cobbler. It had a great pie crust.
Gumbo and potatoes salad with rice on the side. Take out, med gumbo was morefake out
Had a taste for some okra and it was delicious.
