My wife and I finally got a chance to visit the Poisoned Apple last night and we’re so glad we did. Very inviting and friendly atmosphere. The owners Cody and Devin are super cool and down to Earth. My favorite drink was the Poisoned Apple Old Fashioned. Delicious with a caramel finish and they even put an orange slice and maraschino cherry in it. Had a great time chatting and laughing with the owners. Will be back soon, thanks again!
I recently visited the poisoned apple. I met Cody the owner and he was very professional and had excellent customer service. He was also very knowledgeable and I enjoyed learning about mead the oldest alcoholic beverage. I will definitely be back.
In my journeys with finding amazing ciders to enjoy and pair with our local foods I have run into Cody many times. When I found out that Cody and Devin had opened their own Cider bar/pub (place to hang out) I had to see (and taste) what was going on.
First, let me say a good pub if done well has that relaxing feel both in the environment, nice comfortable seating, amazing drinks, and nice people to blend it all together. Even though this place is still young the Poisoned Apple hit all the right notes and just like fine wine (or cider) it is just getting better the more they get in the swing of things.
When you walk in there is a darker tone with a lot of nice lighting. A great touch is the lighted Poisoned Apple sign hanging over the bar and rotates between Green and Red. Note to business owners: get a cool focus point for people to take pictures and tag your place! The backyard is amazing as well and at night cool lights hang above just add to that relaxed and fun to hang out vibe.
The true awesomeness to the Poisoned Apple is their focus on Cider. They have teamed up with some of the best Central Coast cider makers and carry a ton of the "best of" their ciders. As on rotation it is always fun to go see what's on tap or in the can. Just recently tried a mead and was happily surprised and it tasted great. I think they had like 5 or so on the menu to try as well. Wondering what type of food pairs well with that honey taste, hmm.
I heard they have a new vendor that people were raving about to pick up some food to go along with our drink (highly recommended). I have not tried them yet, and I'm on the plan for next time. Now I need to figure out what ciders I want to try as well.
So excited to have a rock solid place to hang out on my way back from Paso Robles or making a day trip to Atascadero. Fully recommend trying out the Poisoned Apple and be sure to say hi to Cody and Devin!
Now share what is your favorite cider (and pairing)!
Friendly and helpful service from the moment we sat down. Cider was tasty, and the mead selection was incredible. There's another group on the back patio that makes fresh food that changes every few weeks; the menu as of writing has a variety of burgers, and they were well priced, and quite tasty, but be ready with some napkins. The highlight of the visit was the prompt getting from the four-legged hostess who was excited to see everyone.
Nothing but amazing things to say about The Poisoned Apple! Their rotating selection of meads and ciders is a niche that the SLO County area was very much missing. The atmosphere is fun, the meads and ciders are great, and Cody and Devon (and their pup Maryjane), are always welcoming. Trivia night on Thursdays is always a blast! There is also a permanent pop up eatery in the back called Slides that slings out delicious foods Thur-Sat.
I love this place so much. I went here for fun, then as part of my bachelorette party, and the day before my wedding. They have the best Mead, which is freaking hard to find because most people don't know what Mead is, and the hard cider is amazing too! I almost always buy cans or a bottle of mead to go home with. Wonderful people, relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly, and I always feel so safe there. I will continue to tell everyone I can about Poison Apple, and I will continue to be a return customer!
Epic surprise! Bopped in with our toddler-Frenchie “George” to listen to Nate the DJ and found out that the entire joint is ran by happy doggies, and it’s BLISS!
Great atmosphere and decor, a goth or alts style bar. Super friendly staff that allow samples of their beer and mead.
