Our cycling group had lunch in the Lounge bar yesterday, whilst out for a ride. The staff were extremely helpful in arranging the booking and flexing numbers. Food was good value and served in a friendly and efficient way. Thanks all, we'll be back!
We popped in for breakfast between viewing houses with our young kids and it was lovely. The staff were so friendly and the food was excellent. Lucky for us we're moving to the area so we'll definitely be back!
I frequently use the Plough with my wife, for food & drink, so took brother-in-law and his wife, up from Essex for meal on Sunday, everyone thoroughly enjoy food and service, no complaints.
Karen supplies her hotel with great home baking, and all food served in lounge is cooked fresh every day.

my family had already been and said what a great place for lunch.|wasn't sure what you'd get £12 (2 courses, yes 2 courses). under-priced for what you get.|so we gave it a try.|the portions weren't tiny.|home made soup was full of taste, Brie was well cooked and tasty|pork, Yorkshire pudding, veg, roast tatties and tatties - tasty|curry, a good plate full, again tasty|added a home made dessert - sticky toffee pudding - like it should be with dates in it.||couldn't fault the service, despite their being a large group in.||staff friendly and great customer service.||will go again.|
Lovers pub lunch, good location in the centre of town, friendly helpful staff. A small free carpark at the rear. Fresh flowers on the table which was a nice wee touch definitely recommend this pub and will return
Stopped for lunch after a local mini triathlon and very much enjoyed the experience. We were made very welcome and all staff were friendly. The food was standard pub grub with a 'Specials' board. They do small portions if you ask and the food is sourced locally. I can recommend the ice-cream! As we had one vegetarian in the party, more choice would have been nice, but the macaroni was a good carbohydrate filler after her triathlon! Location is central and there is seating outside on a sunny day. Overall a good value place for a lunchtime meal.
We as a group have been coming to Scotland for 22 years now staying in different locations around the country for the golf. The Plough rates in the top ten for the rooms, clean and tidy, our twin had new beds. As with most pub/hotels in small towns in Scotland we have found them to be in need of a bit of up grading and modernization.||Apart from that it rates in our top ten for the friendly atmosphere, the full Scottish breakfast and the evening bar meals. Large portions all round and very tasty.||Finally to our hostess Karen, from our own county of Yorkshire, who looked after us during our stay. Karen was very helpful when we had breakfast at three different times because of morning tee times for the golf. Helped out with trains for one of our party who had to leave early. Karen's girls behind the bar were friendly and served us always with a smile and the chef was a star.||We will return.
