Last time I went it was closed. Today it was closed. Why don’t they stop wasting peoples’s time by just putting up a notice saying closed? Put up a sign saying open if that ever happens. Customer care can happen all the time, not just when the management are in the mood.
We have never stayed here but before lockdown we went here a lot for food was delicious staff were lovely was a shame when they haven’t opened back up has a pub .
Had a family lunch for 6 booked. First impressions of the building were very good, a nice well decorated light & airy room. Very friendly & helpful staff. Excellent quality food, one of our party is not only veggie but also has to be gluten free. There was an impressive choice of suitable meals on offer for them. The portion size is good, two of us couldn't finish the whole meal. You don't feel rushed & the service was just right, efficient but not intrusive. In summary would highly recommend & am already planning a return visit.
Taken here for the first time by our geordie friends. It’s a lovely building out in the countryside and really well appointed inside and out. The menu was varied and interesting with something to suit all tastes. The staff were polite, smart, knowledgable and efficient. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection. We recommend the king prawns and monkfish in tempura batter served with rice and stir fried veggies, the lime and ginger sauce was out of this world. The pork loin stuffed with black pudding and haggis sausage, served with veggies, mashed potato and mashed turnips was also a superb choice, and a very large meal. This is the sort of place you could visit regularly and We don’t think it would ever disappoint.
Spent a lovely afternoon here with another couple we haven't seen for ages. After a very nice lunch at a very reasonable price we enjoyed a relaxed chat in the comfortable bar/lounge, which is clearly popular with people of all ages including families. It's not a "drinker's" bar and is more for diners, and is very nicely decorated and maintained with a warm welcome from the staff. We've been to the dining room upstairs before and it was excellent but we prefer the bar atmosphere. We'll definitely go again.
We visited this evening in a party of ten for a birthday party. We had a great friendly welcome. We were seated at our reserved table and waited on without haste. The food was excellent. Every person in the group thoroughly enjoyed it. What a lovely experience. This will definitely be on the cards for another visit in the very near future.|The staff were all very friendly, diligent & professional.
Stayed at the plough last night as attending a wedding close by, from the minute we checked in the staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered a light lunch to make way for the delicious puddings. We weren't disappointed, food was of highest standard. Room was bright and airy with amazing views. King size comfortable bed with lovely fresh white bed linen, the room was tastefully decorated with tea and coffee making facilities along with good quality cookies. Breakfast was of the same standard and plentiful had to leave some only because of the size of it. Nothing was to much trouble for the owner's and their team. Would highly recommend this place. Going to go back an sample Sunday lunch.

The food is always freshly cooked and generously portioned without being overwhelming. So tasty too. One ofy most favourite places. Shame it's a bit out of the way for passing trade but well worth a visit as it's not too far off the beaten track. Would certainly recommend it. Lovely inside, comfortable and not too noisy to prevent having a cosy chat. Staff are so friendly and the chef so accommodating, especially if you want to tweak a menu item. If they have it in, they will make it.
