A very intimate a personal service. We booked in advance and were treated to a lovely three course meal cooked by Julie. The produce was all home grown and locally sourced.
On a rainy snowy night in December there was warm welcome, and the log fire roaring away, was a treat. Julie was our personal chief and offered a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains, and 3 desserts. We had leak and potato soup, and poached egg and bacon on a bed of salad to start. Accompanied by homemade bread which was excellent The main was pheasant. cabbage, mash potato, and peas in a honey mustard sauce. Then to finish, rhubarb and strawberry crumble, with vanilla ice cream. Thank to Julie for a lovely evening we will return. Well recommended
Incredible local restaurant. Firstly Julie, what an incredible cook and host. Six of us sat for a meal, it was intimate and perfect. The food was with all local ingredients, which meant the food was fresh and delicious. The type of home made food, made with love. Can't fault it and if we're back in the area we will be making a return. Would recommend it to anyone considering booking a meal.
Gorgeous home-cooked food and a warm welcome from Julie - this was a perfect way to recover and re-charge after a hard day’s cycling on the C2C. So nice to be welcomed into someone’s home. A lovely and memorable evening.
We had a great meal at Overwater this week. I had Duck and the wife had Pheasant. All with home grown, yes home grown Veg. The sticky toffee pudding with custard and was spot on. It is a different restaurant, but that is what we like. If in the area ring up and book a table, it is a must. Should be 6 star!
Highly recommended for small groups! Simply delicious, Julia is a brilliant chef. We were spoilt for choice with fresh breads, choice of three starters, two mains and two puddings prepared using lots of home-grown ingredients. Of course I had to try some of each and pretty much rolled home afterwards.
Staying at the Miners Arms and discovered the Overwater restaurant on the opposite side of the river. You have to book 24 hrs in advance and pay with cash. The restaurant is very small and homely and serves home grown and reared food as much as possible. We had a simple salad starter with a delicious roast duck main course and a chocolate and rhubarb dessert. All excellently prepared. A great meal and a real ‘experience’.
Julie has made an excellent 3 cours diner at an honest price. The vegetables came fresh from her own garden and were good prepared.
Also the desert was heavenly.
We do recommend this place.
Excellent night at The Overwater but it is definitely not your normal restaurant experience. You've got to give Julie a call and book a table in advance, at which you'll get delicious food from whatever is in season from the garden out back. Yes, you have options but don't go if you've got a narrow palette.
20 quid for a 3 course meal and solid selection of drinks that are reasonably priced. Couldn't have had a nicer dining experience in Nenthead
