Enjoyed our cream teas and drinks, lovely surroundings, good service and excellent cakes.
Well this is the first time here and won't be the last.
Everything perfect.
A Credit to you.
Never seen such amazing spotless toilets in a Cafe Bar.
Thank you. ????
I have previously been regularly up until last year, and tried again today but unfortunately will never come back. The service was awful. Dirty looks from untrained young rude staff when they made repeated mistakes, food took nearly 1hr to arrive, 4 different girls came over to ask us if we wanted to order drinks. One girl brought cutlery after 45 minutes of waiting and said 'have you eaten yet'? Other customers getting up to leave after receiving similar poor service. Lots of teenage staff stood looking miserable leaning on the bar, whilst a grey haired owner told them what they should be doing amongst the chaos. Extremely expensive for the poor experience you receive.
I feel this is the demise of the Olive and Pickle which is a shame as under previous ownership a few years ago it was a brilliant place to dine.
Arrived this afternoon with partner, some rude waitress of twenty looked like Courtney love with an edge.. Told us to book since when it's not a classy restaurant but a cafe.. She said we should wait near the door next time til she says where we can sit... So damn rude we walked out and went back to the arcade cafe where service was better, friendly and accommodating... We travelled over 15 miles to hollinworth lake, it was freezing the place was full of people loud as the print works!!!!
Very friendly staff that will happily have a laugh and a chat.
The food was amazing and I'll definitely be going back again.
I love this café and only get to go every so often and unfortunately the last time we went we did not have a very good time. The staff member that sat us down and greeted us was very nice and friendly however when it got to ordering our food, we were very disappointed. Everything that we tried to order was either not available or had been removed from the menu months ago, for example, the fish and chips - they had not served that for months however it was still on the menu. When we asked what was available the girl said everything but ... so we chose something else and low and behold, that too was not available. This went on for quite a while and numerous dishes were not available. By the end, the girl's attitude had gotten worse and as we finally found something that was available, her manager was giving us dirty looks. We wouldn't have minded and we understand that sometimes there are busy periods in the café however, before we sat down and spent half an hour debating what we could have, it would have been best to tell us what was and what wasn't available to us. For the rest of our time in the café, we watched people coming in and having the same problem to the point where one family tried to order something and like us, couldn't so they walked out. I don't want this to put us off coming back to the café however, it could have been better service and future reference, tell customers before they start to order, that half the menu is not available. I will try the café again before we completely strike it off.
Not a great experience today. Two plates had the wrong items twice. The food was only just warm. Food portions on the breakfasts are a lot smaller than in the past. Such a shame as we've been visiting for years.
Arrived 12pm lunch time, ordered cheese and onion pie and olive and pickle brisket burger , waiter returned said none of the above was available ordered fish and chips, and changed my burger to a chicken burger, the waiter returned and said there was no pie, ordered the the med wrap with chunky chips, the burger arrived very disappointed hard chicken not even a fillet just flat chicken, no onion rings arrived, wrap come with fries, not chunky chips????. Cal slaw juice all over plate.
Mentioned this to waiter said will give discount , paid at counter waitress made us feel uncomfortable with asking for discount no eye contact from any staff, please make waiters aware were food is not available before taking orders 3 different waiters took order and all 3 returned saying food not available , was sat around 4 tables and all had the same problem very bad practice from kitchen staff to waiters. Communication is the key as is manners .
