Prawn cocktail was like a meal in it's self it was huge, steak n chips cooked to perfection had so much to eat I had no room for pudding :( lovely place to go n staff are very nice n friendly. Photo is of the half eaten prawn cocktail. Went back again had room for pudding this time amazing hot chocolate fudge cake mmmmmm

Love this place so much we are getting married here next week
Lovely homely feel and great food. Good prices and large portions. Highly recommended.
Wonderful little country inn with fine beer and excellent scotch whiskey. We were entertained by a local celbrity, Ray Bremner, who told stories and sang traditional songs in both Gaelic and English. We were there as part of a tour group and we filled the bar-room to capacity. the owners were biehind the bar and made us feel very much welcome.
Called at The Old Smiddy in 30th May had a couple of drinks made very welcome. Booked for a meal 31st great welcome lovely food I had prawn cocktail Chris had potato soup both fantastic. Had steak was lovely struggled to finish it well worth a visit proper traditional pub so friendly best meal out in Scotland on NC500, lucky for us bus trip in and two young bag pipe playing totally amazing ????
Great place for food or a friendly welcome for a drink or two
We had a fabulous night at the Old Smiddy. Warm atmosphere, good beer and whiskey, and excellent food. Our hosts could not have been more friendly and accommodating as they were initially fully booked for the night but managed to squeeze us in. As a bonus there was entertainment too with singing and bagpipes! A real bonus!! Totally recommend!!!
Good tasty pub grub, cosy bar with a nice open fire. Great portions (maybe consider skipping starter for that reason) ???? Steak Pie ???? superb, as are all dishes ???? well priced food that hits the spot. Can be busy so book when you can to avoid disappointment as walk in may not be accommodated. Plenty parking at rear of premises.
Stayed in the pub car park overnight in a motorhome. Landlord and locals were very chatty, giving us helpful information. Food is supposed to be spot on but we did not try any. The local bitter was a fantastic pint !! Don't be put off by the appearance of the place it's worth a stop over especially if you're doing the NC500 ????????
